Encarnacion after his game tying solo home run in the 2nd
Toronto beats Tampa 10-1 and that now marks the 3rd game out of 4 that they have put up 10 or more runs. The game started with a Joyce RBI single to put Tampa ahead 1-0. Edwin Encarnacion put the Jays on the board with a solo home run, his 1st of the season to tie it at 1's. Next inning was a slug fest as the Jays chased Moore out of the game when Zobrist hit a RBI single with the bases loaded, and then Bautista hit a bases clearing 3 RBI double to open the flood gates. RBI singles by Encarnacion, Rasmus, a RBI double by Morneau and a 2 run home run by Maldonado (1st of the year) would close the scoring and that would be all she wrote.
Carlos Villanueva was OK in the victory going 4 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 ER and 2 walks white striking out 5. Brad Lincoln came in and pitched the final 2 innings of shutout ball. Matt Moore was dealing until that 3rd inning. His final line was 2 innings pitched, 8 hits, 8 ER, while Peralta allowed the final 2 runs in 3 innings. Edwin Encarnacion was named player of the game going 2/3, HR, 2RBI, 2R. Jose Bautista now has a RBI in each game this season bringing his total to 11 in the 1st 4 games.
The next game for Toronto will be in Kansas City vs. the Royals as they will continue to keep their impressive season going. Bruce Chen will pitch for Kansas and he will be facing lefty J.A Happ for Toronto. It looks like Colby Rasmus will get a day off vs. Kansas. Alexi Casilla will make his 1st start vs. the lefty batting 9th and playing 2nd. Bautista will move to LF, Zobrist to RF and Revere to CF.

Bautista celebrates after his Grand Slam. He hit 2 HR and drove in 5 RBI
Toronto exploded for the 2nd time in 3 games beating the Orioles 13-0 Most of the damage was done in the 1st 2 innings as Jose Bautista hit 2 home runs, 1 solo shot and 1 grand slam for his 2nd and 3rd home runs of the season. He drove in 5 of the 10 RBI in those 2 innings. "I feel great out there. I am seeing pitches and making good cuts" says Bautista after the game. Also highlighting the 1st 2 innings was Pablo Sandoval who hit a 3 run home run, his 1st with his new team. He finished with 4 RBI on the night. Justin Morneau, Edwin Encarnacion, and Ben Revere all went 3/4 on the night with 1, 2, and 0 RBI respectfully.
AJ Burnett pitched a gem in his 1st game back as a member of the Blue Jays going 4 innings allowing 3 hits and 0 ER while striking out 2 in the win. Oliver, and Carpenter both had shutout innings for Toronto as well. For Baltimore, Hammel allowed 4 of the runs in 1 inning pitched, Saunders allowed 6 runs in 1 inning, and O'Day allowed the last 3 runs in 2.2 innings of work in the loss for Baltimore.
Toronto (3-0) now faces Tampa Bay (1-2) at home in Rogers Center where they will look to make it 4 straight wins to start the season. They have outscored their opponents 27 to 2 in the 1st 3 games and look unstoppable. Carlos Villanueva will take the mound for Toronto while rookie Matt Moore will pitch for Tampa.

Jose Bautista Solo HR in the 3rd was the difference in the Blue Jays 3-2 victory
Jose Bautista proved to be the difference maker in the Home Opener vs. the Red Sox. The Jays got out to a quick 2-0 lead in the 1st when Jose got a run home with a force out and a error by David Ortiz led to Bautista scoring. In the 3rd inning Bautista was at it again as he hit a solo home run, his 1st of the season to make it 3-0. The Red Sox put their 1st run across in the 5th off a RBI single by Will Middlebrooks. With Sergio Santos in to close it out in the 6th, Pedro Ciriaco hit a RBI single and then the bases were loaded. Santos however, pulled it together to strike out Sands, and get Ciriaco to pop out to 2nd to save the game.
Bautista was the player of the game going 1/2, HR, 2RBI, R, and Encarnacion went 2/2 with a Run in the victory. Ben Revere went 1/3, R, and a Stolen Base (his 2nd in 2 games from lead-off). James McDonald was lights out for the 1st 3 innings until he allowed the base hit RBI by Middlebrooks going 4.2 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 ER. He struck out 4 batters in the process. Buchholtz went 5 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 ER in the loss.
The Blue Jays will now face the Orioles at home in Rogers Center. AJ Burnett will take the mound for Toronto while Jason Hammel will be his opponent.

Colby Rasmus smacks 2 Home Runs, 5 RBI
If the opener is a sign of things to come, this season will be very nice to Blue Jays fans. Toronto (1-0) beats Cleveland (0-1) at home 11-0 in a game that was never close. The team hit 4 Home runs, 2 by Colby Rasmus who drove in 5 Runs in the game. "I felt good out there, saw 2 nice pitches and drove in the runs. Hope this is a sign to come" said Rasmus after the game.
1B Justin Morneau also had a very nice debut going 3/4 with a Home Run, 2 Doubles and 3 RBI in the win. Ben Zobrist hit the 4th Homer (Solo HR) for Toronto in what was his Jays debut as well. Every player got a hit tonight, leading to 16 hits for Toronto.
Ricky Romero was fantastic going 5 Innings, only allowing 2 hits, and striking out 6 batters. This season was a question mark for Toronto. They need him to be the ace and he looked that way tonight. Lets hope he continues to throw like this for the rest of the year.
The Jays go home for their Home Opener vs. the Boston Red Sox. This match-up will see James McDonald (0-0) going up against Clay Buchholtz (0-0)

Justin Morneau is returning to Canada after he was dealt to the Blue Jays
Wow, new Jays GM Tyler Spencer waste no time making moves, as he changed up the roster with 5 trades today. He said: "I wanted to try and make this team a right now team while trying to save the main group of prospects. I feel like I have done this today. I am happy with my team to start the regular season.". Lets break down each deal individually:
1) Jays deal C JP Arencieba, RP Jason Frasor, P Jesse Litsch to the Brewers for C Martin Maldonado, RP John Axford.
- The Jays wanted a catcher who had better contact and defense and was around the same age as JP. They got their man Maldonado from the Brewers and also received Canadian John Axford in the deal as well. The Jays had to give up 2 of their relievers in Frasor and Litsch, but it makes sense for both teams as Axford needed a change of scenery and Litsch as well after all his injury problems. Frasor was set to become a free agent at seasons end and will be missed. Maldonado will start at C and Axford will become the set-up man in the Jays Bullpen.
2) Jays trade SP Brandon Morrow, SP Henderson Alvarez, AAA SS Jonathan Diaz to the Pirates for SP James McDonald, SP AJ Burnett and LF Alex Presley.
- This deal sees ex-Jay Burnett return back to Toronto to complete a deal for sallary reasons for the Pirates. McDonald will be a stud SP and we had to give Morrow and Alvarez to get him, and AJ made it work sallary wise and was an excellent piece to the rotation. Presley will start in AAA at LF. AJ Burnett: "I'm happy to be returning to Toronto, I had some good years there and I hope to help them succeed in the future"
3) Toronto trades 3B Brett Lawrie, INF Mike McCoy, and AAA C Tuffy Gosewisch to San Francisco for 3B Pablo Sandoval, 2B Joaquin Arias, 1B Xavier Nady.
- This move shocked Toronto as they see Canadian Brett Lawrie leave for some warmer temperatures. GM Spencer says "Sandoval fits better in our lineup and for what we are trying to do. Lawrie is an excellent player and will be missed for sure". Arias will take over the 2B spot in AAA and Nady will also report to AAA playing 1B
4) Blue Jays trade 1B Adam Lind, LF Raja Davis, C Jeff Mathis to Minnesota for 1B Justin Morneau, LF Ben Revere, 2B Alexi Casilla.
- This was an excellent move for Toronto who get Canadian Justin Morneau home to Canada finally, and also get a cheaper, upgrade outfielder in Revere and also adds depth by getting Casilla should win the backup INF job over Vizquel who will probably be sent to AAA. Morneau brings back some Canadian blood and an upgrade at 1B. Revere should start in LF and lead off for Toronto.
5) Lastly, Toronto trades 2B Kelly Johnson, 1B David Cooper, AA SS Raph King to Tampa Bay for 2B/SS/RF Ben Zobrist, LF Luke Scott, 1B Brandon Allen.
- This move was made because Zobrist can play many positions to help the team and provides solid contact and power. The Jays lost Cooper but got Scott who should take over as the teams 4th OF and Brandon Allen who should take over Coopers job at 1B in AAA.

Can Jose Bautista lead this team to the World Series?
GM Alex Anthopoulos will be stepping down as the GM of the Toronto Blue Jays, and they have announced new GM Tyler Spencer from Newfoundland, Canada will be taking over. In his 1st job as GM of a major league team he expects to make a few changes. He announced that manager John Farrell will be signing an extension to stay w/ Toronto despite all the Red Sox rumors. "We are happy to have John for a couple more years, he is the best man for the job and we have all our confidence in him" says GM Spencer.
Next order of business, GM Spencer announced that he would be open to moving anyone on the team except captain Jose Bautista and SP Ricky Romero. "We need these 2 center pieces to get the ball rolling for us" says Spencer. He also announced that he will be looking to acquire another starting SP and said he could use 2B Kelly Johnson to get one.
Rumor also has it that if Johnson was moved for a pitcher, the team may look to move AAA 1B David Cooper to get a 2B back."Cooper is a nice young 1B who deserves the opportunity to shine. He should be in a position to start and unfortunately we don't have that opportunity available" says Spencer.
Lastly, it has been mentioned that Brett Lawrie could be out of Toronto as well as the team thinks he has the most value to attract a nice package. Rumor has it that the Jays were in big talks with San Francisco with names like Pablo Sandoval being mentioned. Other possible names being mentioned in the trade market include: SP Brandon Morrow, 1B Adam Lind and C JP Arencieba. GM Spencer said he liked the teams power and may look for a better defensive catcher who can hit for better contact. Rumor has it that the Brewers duo of Catchers in Lucroy, and Maldonado may be possible targets for Spencer if the right package came along. He also said he could package Brandon Morrow with a prospect from AA or AAA to new an upgrade in SP and maybe a minor league player. 1B Adam Lind may be used along with a prospect to net a better 1B or DH who can bat consistently at the 5th spot behind Encarnacion. Rumor has it that his name was mentioned in talks with the Brewers in the catcher trade.

The Dodgers just received news that CF Matt Kemp would be back in the lineup and this would mean Adrian Beltre would be batting 7th in the order. This is when the GM realized that he needed some speed and contact because the entire order is power. Therefore the Dodgers made 2 moves:1) Dodgers trade 3B Adrian Beltre for SP Cliff Lee.
- The team decided to move Lilly (see 2nd trade) and they felt that having Lee in the rotation with Kershaw, Capuano, Beckett, and Billingsley would definitely improve their chances. The Phillies needed some offense and Beltre was a good fit.
2) Dodgers trade SP Ted Lilly, 2B Marco Scutaro, LF Juan Rivera to the Yankees for RF Ichiro, 3B Eric Chavez, LF Raul Ibanez. This is an interesting move. Lilly and Scutaro have been struggling and 38 year old Ichiro is on a 1 year deal. The team feels like they need him to win this year. Chavez will stay on the active roster and maybe start at 3B now, Either moves to DH, Ichiro to RF. Ciriaco will mainly play 2B, with Hariston JR getting the occasional start. Ibanez will become the 4th OF playing only due to injury or PH duties.
* CF Nyger Morgan was sent to AAA to make room for Kemp who is back after a rehab assignment. May Review to follow
1) The Dodgers trade 2B Mark Ellis to Giants for 2B/SS Marco Scutaro. Marco was being benched in favor of Theriot and he was only on a 1 year deal so the Giants were shopping him. The Dodgers will use him at 2nd base as an upgrade over Jerry Hariston Jr.
2) The Dodgers trade CL Kenley Jansen, and AA 5 Star Prospect SP to Texas for 3B Adrian Beltre. Texas wanted to unload some sallary and LA was a perfect fit. They wanted a good fielding 3B with power to move Hanley to SS. Now Ciriaco will DH and he will be platooned with Jerry Hariston JR, with Ciriaco getting most of the nods there.
3) Lastly, LA deals DH David Ortiz to Detroit for CL Jose Valverde. Valverde was being shopped by Detroit and they wanted a Power bat to add to their already potent offense. Ortiz was the odd man out after the Beltre deal so it made sense for both teams.
- The Dodgers now have arguably the best lineup and rotation and will be going to the title this season. I don't see many more big moves unless the injury bug strikes.

Trades:
1) Dodgers trade OF Shane Victorino, SP Aaron Harrang, and INF Nick Punto to the Red Sox for DH David Ortiz, INF Pedro Ciriaco, and P Franklin Morales.
- The Dodgers wanted more power and decided Big Pappi would be the answer. With 6 quality SP, Harrang was the odd man out. Ortiz will play DH and bat 5th, Ciriaco will play mostly SS and some appearances as 2B when Dee Gordon plays SS. Morales will be the teams Long Reliever. This is yet another blockbuster between the Red Sox and Dodgers.
2) Dodgers trade AAA CF Prospect Matt Angle to the Brewers for CF Nyger Morgan.
- The Dodgers needed a CF who could step in a play now until Kemp was back. The Brewers had Gomez who played full time so they could afford to move Morgan for a decent 4 star prospect.
3) Dodgers trade C AJ Ellis, INF Juan Uribe, AAA Prospect to Braves for C Brian McCann, 1B Lyle Overbay, and RF Reed Johnson.
- This deal was actually offered to the Dodgers while it was simulating between the 1st and 2nd game of the season. The deal offered was a 2-2, the Dodgers added Overbay for the Prospect so they could have a AAA 1B on the team. McCann should bat 6th after David Ortiz and Overbay, and Johnson will report to AAA.

- The team is off to a fantastic start leading the league in every offensive category with a 21-0 record. Reddick, Bautista, Konerko have been amazing for the team, and even Encarnacion and Rasmus has beasted. Kelly Johnson was the 2B but was traded along with 2 other players to Texas for Kinsler. Kinsler in 3 GP with Toronto has 1 HR, 3RBI and 2SB.

* Rudy Gay has healed fully from injury. Looks like he will be back into the starting SF, Brooks stays starting SG, while Morrow and Crawford fight for backup wing roles.
* C Brendan Haywood will have surgery on his eye and will be expected to miss 2-4 weeks. Speights will see some more time, and C Dan Gadzuric will get some garbage time.

- The Bobcats lost Cartier Martin to a separated shoulder and he should be out a while. Martin injured himself in the 3rd and was having a good game with 10 points before exiting. Charlotte will get MarShon Brooks back for the next game and he is expected to start. Jordan Crawford will move to the bench to allow for the move.
