NHL Offseason Team Primer Anaheim Ducks
Posted on June 25, 2010 at 12:31 PM.
Here is my NHL team Primer Anaheim edition. Where I preview the NHL offseason and discuss each team's needs, cap space, their own free agents and review and analysis possible trades going into the 2010-11 season Salary Cap has been set to 59.4 million dollars.

Anaheim Ducks:
Unrestricted Free Agents: F Kyle Calder, F Ryan Donally, F Saku Koivu, F Teemu Selanne, D Brennan Evans, D Scott Niedermayer (Retired), D Brian Salcido, D Aaron Ward, G Joey MacDonald.

Restricted Free Agents: F Bobby Bolt, D Brendan Mikkelson, F Bobby Ryan, F Shawn Weller, D James Wisniewski, G Jean-Philippe Levasseur

Free Agents That Need Resigned: F Bobby Ryan, F Teemu Selanne (If he wants to continue to play.), D James Wisniewski, G J.P. Levasseur

Cap Space: 20.7 Million to spend The Ducks have 20 Players under contract ( 13 Forwards, 5 Defenseman, 2 Goalies)

Team Needs: #2 Center, One Top Two Line Winger, One Top Four Defenseman.

Analysis: The Ducks first order of business is to get Bobby Ryan signed to a long term deal. Ryan's new deal could cost the team about 6 million dollars a season, so the Ducks really have about 14.7 million in cap space. Anaheim also needs to replace Captain Scott Niedermayer he retired, Anaheim is one team believed to be in on Tomas Kaberle, The Leafs covet a first round pick and Anaheim has two in round one. Kaberle has one year remaining on his deal at 4.25 million that may be to rich for Anaheim's blood. If that is the case Anaheim may look to Former Flyer prospect D Luca Sbisa to fill the need. The Ducks need a #2 center they may look in house at Ryan or to last year's first round pick Peter Holland to fill that role a free agent option could be Matt Cullen. The Ducks have price they are willing to pay D James Wisniewski if he doesn't agree to the terms he will be traded. Also Anaheim is hoping Joffery Lupul returns to full health after playing just 23 games last year Lupul has big time goal scorer talent. The Ducks would love to rid themselves of Jason Blake's contract ( 2yrs/4million per) gone are the days of Blake scoring 40 goals.

Trade Watch: James Wisneiwski, Jason Blake, Kyle Palmieri, One of the Ducks first round picks.
