A few Friday OS baseball gaming notes:
- I had hoped to give a good run-down of The Show's MLB Live mode, which launched earlier in the week. As of right now, though, the mode still seems to be working out some rough spots. Incorrect records, wrong starters, strange line-ups, and "TBD" players have plagued this mode early on. I'll give it at least a week before doing a full review.

Operation Sports was granted an early review copy of MLB 13: The Show; while I spent a good deal of time with the title this weekend, all of the online/connected features weren't working as of this morning. It wasn't too long ago that choosing a baseball game each year was a tough decision. MVP, High Heat, All Star, World Series, and even Home Run King brought individual strengths and features to the field.

MLB 13: The Show just released a preview on Franchise Mode, my favorite mode in the series for the last five-plus years. I think it's fair to state that baseball games, especially The Show and OOTP, have had a more consistent run than most other sports titles. Both have been critical hits since at least 2006.
One problem with continued success is the expectations thrust upon each iteration. Maintaining quality can be hard enough; adding improvements to meet consumer exceptions can be tougher.

Well, seemingly out of no where, 2K Sports announced MLB 2K13 and a March 5th release date.
This is a surprise to most, since there was no mention of this game prior to today. It wasn't on 2K's release list, and was reportedly losing the company money.
