MLB 2k9 cost me 500 bucks!!
Posted on March 25, 2009 at 03:42 PM.
MLB 2k9 is by far the most expensive game for me. I bought it the day it came out, could not wait to start playing it, having heard about all the things that were supposed to be fixed.

Well, long story short, I have never hated a game so much in my life. And since baseball is my absolute favorite thing to play, I now have to buy a PS3, so I can now play ball with the big boys. No more bush leagues for me, I am getting called up to The Show. And I am not looking back.

No, I think the PS3 cost you 500 bucks. Congrats that you have the money to afford it. Some of us don't.

I think that everyone jumping over to buy the show are going a little overboard. I can't say it's a bad purchase or that the show is not great, I just think it's too soon to jump.

um the system overall is cheaper but through on your online subscription and your spending just as much if not more money on your 360 and if you're a movie buff and want to see The Dark Knight in all its glory then yeah you might want to get a PS3... looks like The Show is a system seller after all... and no ones going overboard cause this game made leaps from its Show 07 PS3 debut and I upgraded to PS3 after playing Show 07 on PS2

I agree with Cras. How many "reboots" has the 2K baseball series done on next gen. (Lets not forget the much ballyhooed "3 year plan"...from 3 years ago after the MLB 2K6/2K7 debacles.) And each year, 2K puts out the bubblegum baseball equivalent of RBI 94. (Except RBI 94 had less HRs, ironically) The sad truth of the matter is that the 2K published/Konami designed MLB Power Pros series has way more realism, way more hit variety, and way more baseball strategy than MLB2K, which is supposed to be the "flagship title". All that said, I don't blame serious baseball fans for getting a PS3 so they can play grown-up baseball with far less bugs.

Everyone has opinions.......and here it mine.

I'm a hardcore 360 player, but The Show it leaps and bounds better (hands down no comparison) than MLB 2k9! Also I did buy a PS3 for the Show, and thank God for bonus checks

If your on 2k9 and not playing the Show because it's on the PS3 then you need to take the blinders off....

P.S. To Whom it may concern
Don't belittle yourself by taking my comments personal

I've found that you can mix up your hit variety and achieve realistic HR totals if you just lay off the L-stick when batting. Rely on the timing of your swing instead of the helper, and you can still have a good game in 2K9.

I have to agree with jconpoet, the 360 is not cheaper. I have both and after I purchased my PS3 and realize what is included with the system, it's actually cheaper than a 360. Free online, wireless internet, and a USB charger for the controller. To purchase online for a year, wireless router for the 360, and charger for the wireless controller, you're looking at $150. The regular 360 is $299, a regular PS3 is $399.....you do the math

from a pure technical aspect, the ps3 is a better machine.. period. innovative, all new under the hood, blue-ray. because of microsoft's desire to come to market first, the 360 ended up costing them billions more than anticipated. But that is microsoft 4 u... just like their software, put it out inferior, and patch patch patch! but it backfired on the hardware side.

I have both since day one. I have replaced 3 xbox360's and still have the same original 600 dollar PS3. I replaced the HD with a 500GB.. runs beautifully on my HDTV.. and the games are catching up with the 360..

believe me when i tell you, a fanboy of either console i am not.. i just know that there will be another 360... or 720.. lol! before there is PS4..

oh btw.. the show friggin ROCKS!!!!!

Yeah 2k9 cost me $1479 actually: $64 for 2k9 (which is just plain awful) + $415 for a PS3 and The Show 09 + $1000 for a nice new HDTV to play The Show 09 on. I know I know but honestly? I would have never bought the PS3 if I didn't hate 2k9 so much, and I would have never bought the new TV if I didn't love my PS3 and The Show so much. The Butterfly Effect: Crappy Baseball Title version.

As someone who has been a big fan of 2K Baseball, the difference between these two games is staggering. I was critical of The Show when it was first released because it was so laggy online. Well the last few games have been smooth as silk. I am now running the game on a new 1080p monitor and its jaw dropping.
The game is amazing and makes the 2K title look like complete garbage. What is the true story behind Kush being taken off the game and VC being given it?

It cost me closer to $550, once you take it back buy the PS3 and The Show. You won't regret it, I haven't. Better than putting money in a 401k.

I still stand by 2k9 and I respect those of you that made the leap, it's your $$. I don't have enough, besides my wife would kill me.

Sorry guys, I have 2K9 PC Version and this is the perfect equation:
good sliders configuration + moods + PC AMD Turion X2 64Bits = Awesome!!!!!

porkchop, I am in the same boat as you. I never even thought about buying a PS3 until I played 2k9. It just clicked when I started the first game and saw the incorrect uniforms and started launching HRs. I knew it then, I need to jump up to the Show. There was no way not to. Once I got it in my head that I needed to puy a Ps3 for the Show, my OCD must have clicked in. No regrets. None what so ever. I will be playing the show almost non stop until next years. I just have had it with 2k sports and EA sports. The Show is the best sports game I have ever played (aside from the text management based classics like Football Manager or Outside the Park).

People crack me up always turning one topic into something completely different. Who cares about which system is better.. They are both near equal, the biggest difference is preference.. if you want to watch movies and use the console via wifi, then u want a PS3.. If you just want to play games, then you want a 360. The extra money you spend on a PS3 buys you extra features, features not gaming related.. Comparing gaming features only..they are about the same except for the price of PS3 and the quality of the 360.. I've had the RROD once already and expect it again.. But i have no desire to watch movies on my gaming machine (just never been into that).

That said, if my 360 fails again, i'll buy a PS3 just for the dependability.. i cant do this yearly repair sH*t
