2K GAVE WAY TO GREED

On the surface Next Gen NBA 2K14 is a beautiful game that is very impressive to look at & play. Scratch beneath that surface & you have a product that is not quite right.

Badly designed Menus, Lack of Options & a far from ground breaking MyGM Mode are frustrating but for many it's the way 2K have suddenly found a deep love for paid for DLC.

I don't mind the concept of DLC if it's used to give you non-essential items like Player Equipment, but when it's used just so you can carry out basic GM tasks it's suddenly becomes very bothersome indeed.

I actually believe that these decisions were made late in the day & were not originally part of the 2K development plan. I think 2K originally planned to have MyGM (for those that like the deeper role playing elements of controlling a Franchise) & Season Mode (For those who liked to play with Multiple Teams/Friends & have global control over the entire league). Somewhere along the line it seems 2K saw a money making opportunity within the GM Mode. To maximise the number of people who played that mode they made a late decision to remove the Multiplayer feature from Season Mode thus taking away what would of been a go to Mode for many including myself. Why else would the Season Mode screen still have the League Pass tab if 2K didn't originally intend to allow users to play other games in the league?
I can understand MyGM Mode being Single Player because of the focused storylines that would be hard to execute for multiple users but there is no reason for Season Mode not to have this function. In fact I have read a Preview of NBA 2K14 Next Gen that stated that Season Mode was Multiplayer. Whether this reviewer got it wrong or whether the Mode at that time had the Multiplayer feature I don't know.

Maybe 2K got greedy or maybe they went over budget & needed to claw some money back, I don't know. But as with the removal of Tournament Mode in FIFA 14 Next Gen it seems a decision was made in the interest of limiting a persons options in an effort to try to get them to play a Mode that encourages them to spend money. The difference is that we expect nothing less from EA but from a company like 2K who have a lot of respect from sports gamers this feels like a real let down.

The bottom line is their decisions to force our hands probably don't work anyway. Sorry EA I'll never play Ultimate Team no matter how many modes you remove & the same goes to 2K too.

If 2K want me to spend a few pounds then release a DLC that allows Multiple Players in Season Mode. Better still, show some respect to your loyal fans & do it free through a patch!

I am beginning to believe that us sim gamers are either going to get near perfect visuals and gameplay or near perfect game modes CHOOSE ONE.

You dont have to spend a dime. Its rpg style just play the game to level up its that easy and doesnt take that long. The option to buy VC is there for those who cant wait to level up fast in no way is it forced on you to do so.I understand if you miss being able to have control of all teams though. I never did that myself but to exclude something that seems so simple is a let down.

Thanks for replying.

The issue I have with the VC is that you only accumulate on games you play. Simulated games do not award you. It's a big ask to expect us to play every single game.

Great post DazRaz, as many many community members feel the same way you do. Come on 2k, fix this.

I know simulation is a big part of sports games. I mean who want's to play 82 games per season for a whole career? But I don't think we can deserve any VC points if we plan to simulate the game. By simulating we are doing nothing. We are not putting effort except pressing simulate. It's the same thing as getting free VC points over and over by a glitch. If you were a real player would you expect to earn money for not playing? I know that example is a little extreme but it's similar. I believe the only way to access the park for street games is through MyCareer is through MyCareer mode. It would be too easy to accumulate points by simulation. Making people overpowerful in those online game modes. There is still the issue with people who buy VC points, but at least their losing money to get it. We can't really do anything with impatient/sad people except removing the option to buy VC points, but that would be closing a potential way of making profit for 2K.

2K did a good job with graphics for 2K14 Next-Gen. Now maybe if they would put majority of their emphasis on UI/Game Modes/Gameplay/Customization for 2K15 I would be really happy.
