Madden 16 Quick Hit Impressions

Madden 16 came out on Tuesday and I've played a decent amount of it so far. It goes without saying this is one of the most polarizing game releases every year, so many fans on both sides of the argument. I get Madden every year, and lately it's been a let down ever year, how would this year fair?

So far, I love it on the field, some of the best it's ever been sans the AI jumping offsides glitch that's being fixed in the first patch according the EA development team. BUT, franchise mode is a complete embarrassment. It's been barely touched, now you have EA Dev's telling people not to play it till a patch hits? Wonderful, since it's pretty much the only mode I play.

As I've said before, I get Madden more out of tradition than really enjoying it. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just not what it once was, but sadly very well could be. There's way too much focus on MUT now, I get it's their revenue source, but use that money to improve other areas of the game.

Why does this game still unable to have a 4:15 game have the sky turn to night while playing? How can a game like The Show have different lighting for every month of the year, but Madden can't get this right when it's been in the NCAA games for years and years. Why is there no ticker in franchise mode alterting you of other game scores, or even a live look in? When again, NCAA's had it for a few years. CFM feels so completely hollow and detached for me. All the news is about my team with snippets about the league through a rough to navigate main page and a "twitter" feed.

Draft Champions mode is really good and fun to play but wish the players were more randomized. I've done 3 drafts and seen similar players all 3 drafts pretty much in the same order.

Another positive, the graphics are great. It does look like last year, but for some reason...better. I can't put my finger exactly on what it is, but something just makes the game look really good.

Overall, Madden could be a great game. It's oh so close, but just not there yet.

I'll continue to update my feelings about Madden throughout the season, that is if I keep with it. I fear other big releases and a long delay in this patch coming out could spell doom for Madden in my gaming world.
