An impassioned plea to EA for complete text files from all games
Posted on September 24, 2009 at 12:34 AM.
Where I'm coming from: I'm now 35 years of age, married, and hopefully there will be chillens on the way in the near future. I'm a certified dynasty fanatic. There is nothing about this mode that I could ever get enough of. I hope it continues to get better, but I love it. I participate in an online dynasty (traditionfootball.com) with 11 really great guys that I have a lot of fun competing against.

For the longest time, I've tracked my teams by posting dynasty reports. Ok, I just pigeonholed myself as the worst kind of geek, but so be it. I love doing it. I really like the aspect of tracking my team from a statistical standpoint. Being able to say Oh, four years ago this team beat me by this score and they put up this many yards. that kind of stuff adds to the fun of participating in a dynasty for me, so that's why I do it.

Doing this presently requires a HUGE investment of time to keep track of all this data. Even with a tool that helps to organize the data such as avidmanager.com, it takes around a half an hour for me to get all my stats and all that stuff going, for each game. once you get to my age, you have to be a real nutcase to invest this kind of time.

I finally ran out of rationalizations for wasting my time on it. I have to go back to school to finish up my degree in the near future, and my career is always taking up more and more of my waking hours.

I could go back to this geeky passion of mine if EA would email a complete statistical report, in simple text or (better yet) csv format, following every game. It would save me a ton of time and make the whole process a joy, instead of the arduous process of writing stats down, typing them in, etc. An online tool such as avidmanager.com would then be able to import these reports and voila: zero time spent recording and typing stats. Sure, this wouldn't be the ONLY reason to do it.... one wouldn't have to be a nerd to enjoy checking out the results of their game in an email the following day at work.

Adam, or whomever is reading, please consider doing something like this. Geeks and normal people alike would probably really dig it.

I couldn't agree with you more. I've been waiting for EA to implement this for a while. It would improve an awesome yet buggy online franchise mode ten fold. Nice write up grandpa.

This would be a great move by EA. It would mean a lot to the die-hard dynasty players who want to track their program. Also it would be fun for offline multiplayer showdowns, to keep track of your long-running feud with the buddies you play exhibition games with.
