Division Rivals Begin 3-gm Series

After a BIG series win at home vs. the Yanks. The Cleveland Indians paid a visit in Kansas City for the last 3 games of a 6 game home stand.

Gil Meche would take the ball for KC, and start the game off w/ a leadoff walk to Grady Sizemore. Sizemore would steal 2nd, but Meche would not allow a hit and CLE would strand Sizemore at 2nd to end the inning. KC got on the board early after a lead off 2B by Coco Crisp, and a single by Dejesus, scoring Crisp from 2nd; KC 1 - CLE 0. However, Anthony Reyes would settle in after that and get out of the inning w/o giving up any more hits or runs, while striking out two.

Fast forward to the 3rd, and Cleveland would have a big inning putting 4 runs on the board after Johnny Peralta sent a laser down the LF line, barely clearing the fence for a 2R HR. A couple of batters later, Shin-Soo Choo would 2B in two more runs, and Cleveland would take control of this one w/ a 4 - 1 lead. KC would answer back with a run manufactured on a couple of base hits; CLE 4 - KC 2.

After DeRosa reached base on an error, and Hafner singled. Peralta would do even more damage in the 4th after he sent a 2B to the RF gap scoring two more, and pushing his RBI total to 4 for the game. Cleveland would strand a runner to end the inning, but take a commanding lead of 6-2.

KC would not answer back in the B4th, and with 2 outs in the T5th, Gil Meche would face off w/ Johnny Peralta again, who on the day homered once, 2B�d once, and accounted for 4 of CLE 6 runs thus far, and he didn�t stop there�

On a 3-1 count Meche threw a FB low and inside, a pitch he had just gotten a swing and miss on in the same exact location. Only this time he didn�t have enough on his fastball, and Peralta would send another laser down the LF line knocking off the foul pole for a solo HR. Gil would retire the next batter, but his day would be over, and Cleveland had a commanding 7-2 lead.

Juan Cruz would come on in relief, and pitch 4 scoreless hitless innings striking out 4 in the process. KC had a 3 run two-out rally in the B7th after Billy Butler kept the inning alive with a 2B to the RF gap scoring Coco Crisp from 2nd. Mike Jacobs would then hit a blast to left-center for a 2R HR, but Jose Guillen would end the inning w/ a K (his 2nd of the game), and CLE would shut the door on KC from there on out.

**NOTES**: Perez became the �Pitcher of Record� after Anthony Reyes was pulled after 4 1/3 innings of work (Don�t know why�he had 6K�s). KC PC = 104-32; CLE PC = 117-36. Grady Sizemore 0-3, 1BB 3Ks, 1SB.
