Take a Time Machine Back 1 Year
Posted on September 17, 2011 at 02:55 AM.
On the 17th of September last year, I was sitting here on Operation Sports awaiting the news of the NBA 2k11 demo. I was an arrogant 15 year old who bragged about how good NBA 2k10 was. I had a friend who was the biggest supporter of NBA Live 10 and I'm not gonna lie, they persuaded me to buy the game. The only advantage that I thought NBA Live 10 had was the ability to perform a "momentum" shot on the move. NBA Live 10 did not have realistic looking players, shots, dunks, movement, or much else compared to 2k10, but the NBA Live had the momentum shots that I liked. When I was preparing for the highly anticipated NBA 2k11 demo, I just made a mental list of all the things I expected and hoped to see. The momentum shots, an improved post game, and the euro step were the three improvements I was looking forward to seeing.

Finally, the demo was released and I was among the first to download. The first thing I did, after losing the tip and giving up a three, was shoot a corner three, step-back, with Kobe. It was right then that I knew the game was for me. It just felt so real and smooth. After two weeks of that, I had the euro step perfected and was still amazed at the gameplay.

Now fast-forward a year and I'm sitting in the same situation. I can say that NBA Elite 11 was no help in showing what NBA 2k11 lacked, if it lacked anything. To keep up tradition, my list is again started. This year, it includes the create-a-jumpshot, (already confirmed ) new shot-blocking animations, (reaching the ball at the pinnacle and also including, yes, the Lebron trail block) and the pull up jump shot. In years past, the game has included forms of a pull up jump shot, but it has never had it's own animation and look forward to hopefully seeing if it does.

The NBA 2k12 hype machine is on full blast and this guy is definitely on the bandwagon. I am truly wondering why I have not ordered this game yet. I have it in my shopping cart on 3 different websites, pricing checking each one, guaranteeing I get it first day, and simply put, I will for sure be the proud owner of this game on October 4th, no matter the price.

Turning the Hype Machine On,

RB

You know you've got a good game when your only competition, and the largest game company in the world, simply doesn't bother trying.

The hype machine is almost at the point of overheating.
