MLB 13: The Show - Toronto has had an offseason dreams are made of... Stuck
Posted on December 17, 2012 at 03:34 PM.

Toronto, you're going to be accused of unrealistic AI if you keep this up.

First you make a ridiculous trade with Miami that most video gamers would've scorned for it's unrealistic lack of balance. Coming to the Blue Jays? Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Emilio Bonifacio, and John Buck along with $4 million.

Leaving? Yunel Escobar, Jeff Mathis, Henderson Alvarez, and prospects Jake Marisnick, Justin Nicolino, Adeiny Hechavarria, and Anthony DeSclafani. Immediate win for Toronto. Long term win prospects (maybe for Miami).

But that's not all the Toronto Blue Jays have been up to this offseason. The Blue Jays also got in on the free-agent action this off-season, signing outfielder Melky Cabrera to a two-year deal and infielder Maicer Izturis to a three-year contract.

And now? The reigning NL Cy Young Award Winner, R.A. Dickey is about to become a Blue Jay.

Yes, Dickey is 38. But there have been many pitchers who have been pretty effective (barring injuries) to 40 years old and beyond.

Expectations are now high for the Jays, and they could be the favorite in the AL East and among the best teams in MLB 13: The Show. While more moves are possible, it's not crazy to speculate the Blue Jays could be a top choice amongst MLB 13: The Show gamers in 2013.

The lineup looks pretty spicy, with Reyes leading off followed by Melky Cabrera, Jose Bautista, and Edwin Encarnacion. Brett Lawrie, Adam Lind, and Colby Rasmus won't be easy outs either. Neither J.P. Arencibia nor Emilio Bonifacio are without danger as well.

The rotation? Well, imagine facing R.A. Dickey, Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, and Brandon Morrow in a series. Good luck with that.

Baseball is back in primetime in Canada. At least the expectations are. We'll see if the follow through is worthy of the sky-high expectations at the former Skydome.

Sound off: Are you excited about the Blue Jays' moves? What are you wanting to see the Jays accomplish in 2013?

First off its great to see teams besides the Yankees and Sox picking up all the talent, Baseball is finally going to be as close to the NFL with parity that its ever been.

Besides that its great to finally see the Blue Jays getting back in the thick of things. But dammit how great would it of been if Detroit picked up Dickey, one could only wish though.

Melky, Bautista and Edwin are on HGH guys, isn't it obvious? Look at the stats, how do these guys have a spike in HR numbers? Melky got caught.

I've learned to live with crazy deals like this in the Show. The real problem though is the frequency. The entire league gets shook up within a year and you see players get traded multiple times in a season. They can keep the logic, just tone down the frequency.

Funny a Yankees fan would insinuate that the only reason why those players' HR totals went up is because they took HGH. I sense a bit of jealousy! Now that the Jays are looking to contend while the Yankees are aging and Sox are retooling, is that really how you want to respond to the added competition? Questioning the Jays' integrity by saying that our guys are on steroids is about as low as you can go. I surely hope that you're kidding Yankees, for your own sake.

Vegas has the Jays as 8:1 favorites to win the world series.....I know it means almost nothing but it's still nice to see as a Jays fan. Bring on April!

Haha... Yankees fan. If you allow ignorance to set in, you'll never learn anything.

I remember Yahoo writer Jeff Passan saying in a video, that he had 'no idea' how Jose Bautista has become the player he is now. When, in Toronto, there were articles and interviews in print, tv, radio etc. as to why.. (coaching approach, mechanical changes, mental approach at the plate etc.). I responded to Mr. Passan by saying, if he didn't know, all he has to do was go and ask... Do an interview. Research... A few weeks later, he came out with a very decent and informed article about Jose Bautista. Same thing w/ Encarnacion... Had a good discussion with Anthopolous about how to be more successful, certain things to do etc...

Anyhoot... Yeah, I liked their lineup in MLB The Show. Even Arrencibia would crush a bunch of HR's for me.
