One note before I get started here, this is from a 'borrowed' retail version of the game, so my time has been kind of limited with the full game. However, I have played enough to feel good enough about putting a review out. I'll possibly add to this review in a couple more days with some more thoughts. So if, by some strange chance, you haven't made up your mind by then, hopefully those extended thoughts will help you one way or the other.

Pros

Running Game - EA once ... Read More

I'm not sure what else can be said about NCAA Football 11 but I'm going to try.

First off, Christian wrote an anthology on why the game is much improved in the official OS review. So if you want meatier details, hit that review up.

Pros

Gameplay - The gameplay is the best ever for a football game, and I have little reservations about that. There are some issues that need to be sorted ... Read More

Pros

Tackling/Player Interactions - The game never 'feels' stale in the sense that each play often brings about some new looking outcome of a play.

Tackle Alley - I LOVE this mini game. If the developers were wise, they'd package this mode as a $10 DLC or something.

Control Scheme - The controls are simple, and they are effective. Probably my favorite part of the game.

What happens when you try to accurately simulate a sport with a complex array of moves and actions?

You get a convoluted mess of controls that'll frustrate even the most seasoned gamer like in UFC Undisputed 2010. While UFC diehards and stick seasoned gamers will likely enjoy the vast array of complex moves available, everyone else will end up in a game that is a little difficult to control. We'll come back to the negatives. ... Read More

This is Tecmo Bowl.

In literally every sense, this is Tecmo Bowl. If the game had the real players and teams from it's inagural season, I could've swore this was the same game. And while in gaming, that's usually considered a bad thing, in this instance, it's mostly good.

Sometimes a new coat of paint is all a game really needed.

When I played a game with Kansas City against Buffalo, ... Read More

I think it's finally happened for me.

Out of the Park Baseball 11 is by far my favorite baseball game this year, not an easy feat for a guy who has loved playing the actual games since Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball on the SNES. But I just can't help it, OOTP 11 is like an addictive drug mixed with your own personal theme park. I can't get enough of it, and it's very possible I might be ready to crown this year's game of the year already.

What is really scary is that while I ... Read More

Starting with the baseball games, I am going to review every major release on my blog in a short form fashion with a 1-5 star rating scale for each game. Star ratings do not correspond to number ratings, so to find out what the stars mean check out my guide. These reviews will be meant to supplement our already off-the-charts awesome reviews we publish with each game. The official reviews for both baseball games are coming later in the week. Now onto my review:

And then there was MLB ... Read More

These reviews will be meant to supplement our already off-the-charts awesome reviews we publish with each game. With that said, expect our man Caley Roark to have his thoughts on MLB 2K10 and the official OS Score by the end of the week! Also, I skimped on some gameplay details simply because I think my first impressions still cover a lot of my ... Read More
