Moscow, Idaho -

Following a disappointing 1-11 season in 2012, the Idaho Vandals needed new direction, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Idaho Vandals Atheltic Director, Terry Gawlik, announced two new hires for the struggling football program on Monday, identifying former Defensive Coordinator for the Montana State Bobcats, Tim Jackson, as Head Coach, inking a five-year contract worth around $750,000 a year. Coach Jackson, 46, a former defensive tackle with the Ohio Bobcats, spent time as a grad assistant, then as a defensive line coach, before spending the previous 8 seasons with the Montana State program.

Joining Coach Jackson will be rookie Offensive Coordinator, Zach Moore, who previously spent time as a Running Backs coach at his alma mater, Utah State. Moore, 33, played sparingly as a back-up running back, becoming a grad assistant following his graduation. He spent the 3 prior seasons as the Utah State runnung backs coach, where he played in intregal role in escalating their program's offense.

Both Jackson and Moore are first-timers to the roles they have obtained with Idaho, but Coach Jackson stated during his press conference, "our staff is committed to bringing high-caliber football to Idaho."

The Vandals retained Defensive Coordinator, Chris Estes, though many believe he is on a very hot seat with the program, following two weak defensive seasons.

Coach Jackson, who prefers a pro-style offense, stated he would allow Offensive Coordinator, Moore, to run his Run-Option attack, but noted he would have a lot of input in its development with the program, and that he would be willing to step in on play-calling duties, if necessary.

Both Coach Jackson and Coach Moore, joined Coach Estes in meeting the players this afternoon, with few players offering any comment. Senior running back, Brent White, stated, "We've only won 3 games in the last two seasons, and with this being my final season, I'd love to end on a high note. I'm looking forward to learning from Coach Jackson and working with Coach Moore, especially with his running back background."
