Best 5 Teams This Season

Kentucky has been outstanding this season

Kentucky Wildcats (13-0) � The Kentucky Wildcats have been the undisputed best team in the nation this season. They are undefeated, and most of their wins have come from defeating top tier teams. They won the Maui Invitational, pulling off a comback win against the Villanova Wildcats. With the leadership of Charlie Wheeler, the Wildcats should have no problem continuing this success.

Maryland Terrapins (12-0) � The Terrapins still might be the best team in the nation, they just haven't played as many hard games as the Kentucky Wildcats have played. Maryland has put their star power to good use, combining the talents of Dexter Morgan, Timo Cruz, and CJ Little to put up an undefeated record in the first part of the season. This team has the deepest roster in the nation so success is demanded.

Purdue Boilermakers (12-0) � The Boilermakers have surprised the basketball world with an undefeated 12-0 record starting the season. They have pulled off a few surprising upsets in the process, and it will depend on the play of their star players to keep up the success they have been having early in the season.

Georgetown Hoyas (10-1) � The Hoyas have not dissapointed with their tremendous Freshmen talents Petey Chambers and Junior Battle. Both have played great basketball, resulting in an 10-1 record in non-conference play. The Hoyas have a big test coming up in a very talented Villanova Wildcats team lead by the fantastic Chris Kramer.

Villanova Wildcats (11-1) � Chris Kramer is the Villanova Wildcats. Without him, they would not be near as good of a team. He has had some help with such players as Sean Webb, but overall he does not have the supporting cast like other star players have. It will be interesting to see whether or not Kramer can keep up his outstanding level of play and carry the Wildcats deep into March.

Top Players This Season

Max Blount could be the #1 overall pick in the upcoming draft

Max Blount, Michigan � 32.7 PPG, 12.2 RPG, 3.2 BPG � Blount has been playing out of his mind in his junior year. He has developed into a great scoring and rebounding big man, leading the league is PPG and top ten in rebounding. If he continues his outstanding play, it will be hard not to give him the player of the year award.

Petey Chambers, Georgetown � 25.1 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 4.1 BPG � Petey Chambers has lived up to the pre-season hype. He has been one of the most outstanding defensive players in the NCAA this season, with 4.1 BPG in the very offensively talented Big East. He could be the only player who can rival Max Blount this season.

Dexter Morgan, Maryland � 23.4 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.3 RPG � The Reigning Player of the Year has not disappointed after passing up the NBA draft to return for his senior season. He is leading his Terrapins with 23.4 PPG, and has led them to an undefeated record. Him and Timo Cruz have proven to be quite the dynamic duo in Maryland.

Chris Kramer, Villanova � 24.3 PPG, 5.5 APG, 3.3 RPG � Chris Kramer has been tremendous this season. With a limited supporting cast, he has led the Wildcats to an 11-1 record (their only loss coming by the hand of the Kentucky Wildcats) He can shown his incredibly athletic ability time after time this season.

Charlie Wheeler, Kentucky � 20.2 PPG, 5.7 APG, 1.5 RPG � Charlie Wheeler has been the fierce leader of the unbeaten Kentucky Wildcats, making him a definate candidate for player of the year. If the Kentucky Wildcats continue their tremendous success, it will most likely be a result of more great play from Wheeler.
