Interconnection pt 1

It' strange that even though the world has become an increasingly smaller place, there seems to be a growing disconnect between the people that inhabit it. The world is becoming increasingly impersonal at an exponentially faster rate. While it seems that the advent of Text messaging and Facebook helps keep people much more connected I feel that these inventions have in actuality made it easier to maintain overly shallow relationships.

I wonder where this will lead us in the coming years. I often think of the differences in the world between my childhood and now (27 years old). It blows my mind that someday I'll have children and I'll be able to tell them that when I was a kid the general public didn't have a clue that the internet existed. The sad truth is that I wouldn't be surprised if my future children asked "how did people communicate before the internet?"

It's a double edge sword and a sharp one at that. It's tremendously important to preserve the human element. As a general population we've already lost touch with our connection to nature and judging by the course we seem to be on, we are on our way to losing our connection with humanity.
