Activated CF Joel Hatch from DL (5/2)
Activated #B Placido Polanco from DL (5/13)
Acquired LF Dominic Brown from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for C Roger Valdez, then optioned Brown to AAA New Orleans (5/14)
Placed LF Bryan Ortega on 60 day DL with a torn calf (5/16)
Placed RP Victor Pena on 15 day DL with a torn finger ligament(5/21)
Of course the major happening of the month was acquiring LF Brown. He spent his entire year on AAA for Philly, this will definitely add some depth at LF, with Pierre getting older, it is only a matter of time before he gets his chance in the majors. The man the Phillies got was a Catching prospect in Valdez, it was one of their team needs, which made it easier to perform the 1 for 1 deal. Losing him wasn't great, he was hitting well in AAA, but the solid depth at the position and the excelling performance of our starter Rob Brantly, made it easier. Browns role will be a AAA starter in left, it will give me the opportunity to examine him while getting plenty ABs. Expect more moves out of Miami in the coming days.
As a team, our record totally dwindled, a very poor month. Here are the NL East Standings through June 1st.

In short, we only gathered 8 wins in May, pitching has been pretty non existent, Jacob Turner is the best starter we have, he has an A potential, a 4-1 record and a 3.3 ERA. LeBlanc is struggling, along with Nolasco and Alvarez, hopefully those guys turn it around quickly, or a change to our starting rotation is imminent (cough cough Hand and Koehler)
With the MLB draft coming up soon, I will be posting my draft results on here. Hopefully I will find the next Mike Trout.
Scouting:
I will be focusing most of my attention on infielders and pitching. Usually I just give my scouts one assignment because scouting for me is not usually the most important thing. And of course as the Marlins, I have a fairly high pick in the 2013 first player draft. So hopefully I will be able to use that to my advantage. Infielders are usually like to have some speed on them but this time I sent one of my scouts to find a Power hitting infielder, with some speed on them. Kind a like a Hanley Ramirez, may be a Robinson Cano.
Trade Block/Trading
With the Miami Marlins, I will focus my attention this season I'm trying to acquire some young players. The positions I feel that we need to improve on and get some depth would be pitching, third-base, and left field. When I say pitching, I'm talking about relief pitching. Looking over the first month of action, our relief pitching really stunk outside of our closing pitcher. So to improve there with some young arms would be a plus for me. At third-base and leftfield we have a couple of aging guys, I'm see that Juan Pierre is losing some of his rating due to his age, so this will more than likely be his last year with Miami. Maybe acquiring some prospects in these positions would help us improve in the coming years.
Prospects:
I am very excited for the future of Miami Marlins Baseball! I feel we have some young prospects in place that with time would give us the opportunity to be contenders in the NL East. Of course Ken Guthrie one of our top 50 prospects, is one of those players. This first month of action he managed to hit a 361 average with four homers in 20 RBIs. Some other noticeable prospects include second baseman Juan De La Rosa, third baseman Brian Carpenter and infielder Nick Green. Pitching wise it is still too early to tell what kind of prospects we have yet, for our top 50 Prospect Luis Cuevas he had a struggling April. I hope that ERA gets down.
That will wrap it up for another addition of Miami Marlins dynasty. The next post should be My May review, unless any sort of big acquisition happens for Miami.

So after a you can easily see that the Marlins while are not above 500, they're playing okay baseball. Let me make clear that I am not shooting for a World Series title, I don't think the Miami Marlins are ready or have the capabilities to be a playoff team. But I want to be a competitive in the NL East, the first month showed that we can.
We can take at the injuries for the Miami Marlins in the month of April:

My sadness was very quickly changed to happiness when I realized I had several prospects in AAA that were able to perform well under the circumstances of the injured players. We hope to get them back healthy and very very soon.
Prospects like Chris Gomes (1B) replaced Morrison, hit a 368 average with a couple homers in 38 at-bats. Matt Downs replaced Hechavarria at shortstop, he has hit a mediocre 225 average with a homer and 71 at bats.
So far this is been a pretty acceptable start the season. So much has been down in Miami, and I will focus my attention on some scouting, which I will focus on in my next post.. The stats of my major-league players Will be available at the All-Star break.

And the way we are going to do this GM season for the Marlins, I am going to simulate a month at a time and give you guys a month in review on how they are performing are performing and any moves we make.

So looking over major-league roster for Miami Marlins, it's easy to see our top two players, right fielder Giancarlo Stanton and closing pitcher Steve Cishek. I hope these two players will make a difference for us in 2013. As I was looking at our triple a roster I noticed we have two top 50 prospects in outfielder Ken Guthrie and closing pitcher Luis Cuevas.This is an interesting opportunity for the Marlins but also bad one. These two prospects are in the same position as our top two players on our major-league roster. Which raises the question, do Guthrie and Cuevas become movable during the season? We could possibly acquire some other prospects for the positions that we do need, but it just all depends on the performance of our major league players. We might be able to get some major-league players also out of those two prospects, some guys that are major-league ready.
Moving on to a couple of likely spring-training competitions. Shortstop will definitely be one of those we have four major league shortstops as it stands in spring training right now. That number will obviously decline, we also have prospect Roger Torres in AAA. The two shortstops that will likely be in the running for the starting job because I don't want to committee, will be Adeiny Hechavarria and Nick Green. I honestly want to see Adeiny win it, but may the best man win.
The last possible competition in spring-training will be the fifth spot in the starting rotation. Wade LeBlanc, Brad Hand, and Tom Koehler will be in the running. Hand and LeBlanc are both lefties. We have a righty heavy starting 4, which includes Nolasco, Eovaldi, Turner, and Henderson Alvarez.
I will be posting the opening day depth chart soon after spring training.
To start off let me first clearly state that I am not a Marlins fan. But I have an extreme pleasure in takeover bad teams and try to make them contenders. It's been one of my hobbies since the game came out and I think this would be a fun thing for me to do and publicize it.
I will not be playing any of the games I will be simulating them and I will give you roughly month in reviews on how the team is performing and any big moves.
Taking a look on the kind of Division we play in, the NL East. This is a division that will be extremely tough. I would roughly say this is probably the second or third hardest division in major-league baseball behind the AL East. Mets, not that good so not really concerned about them. But the Phillies nationals and Braves are all teams you have to be worried about.
I will be continuing another post very very soon as I will be looking over the roster and examining strong points.
