Hi All!
I have been playing ahead of my write-ups and have been overlooking quite a bit in terms of the game play and the overall Madden 11 experience. But the latest has simply turned me completely off.
- I can overlook the commentary being out of sync regularly.
- I can overlook my being told I'm playing for the Super Bowl in the pre-season against the Browns before the game starts???
- I can forgive the shots of nobody just before an important field goal, then having the action cut to the kicker putting it through the up-rights.
- I simply do not know enough about the programming of the game to question how good or bad it really is (whether using default all-pro, Bills or Mike32Ownz sliders to try and achieve a realistic look and stats), so I'll reserve comment on the actual game play.
- I can even forgive Chris Collingsworth for repeating the same quarterback profile before every game
But sorry...I just filed the following in the bugs/glitches thread and frankly, this tears it. This is not an opinion on game flow or the game play. This is not a questioning of the timing of the play by play. This isn't even a judgment of whether Gus is better this year??? It is (to me) another fatal flaw in the game.
I think I'm just going to move on.
I'll go play NHL11...and maybe do a dynasty with that once the season starts?!?
IF and/or WHEN the Madden 11 game is patched or polished in some way so that it works, then maybe I'll pick it up again. I truly have given it my best shot!
SYSTEM: Ps3
GAME MODE: Franchise (Coach Mode)
SITUATION (This includes down/distance/time left): Post Game Stats!
CUSTOMIZATION (Were you using specific sliders/roster edits): Bills Sliders
DETAILS (Please be as detailed as possible in text): Bears vs. Redskins Week 7. I'm getting stomped. BUT Grossman fumbles, Manning picks up the ball and goes 52 yards for a TD!!!
Play was challenged by Wash
The show endless replays of Manning crossing the goal line, NOTHING to do with the challenge of Grossman being DOWN before ball coming out
Play was eventually OVERTURNED
I lose my six points and game continues
At the end of the game the final is announced 23-0 in favour of Washington. I go to the game summary stats (to record for my Franchise write-up). I see a line score that shows 23-6 with the Manning Touchdown recorded in the 3rd quarter score box and also in the scoring plays!!!
With due respect, I have overlooked a lot of things in M11, but so many little things (or a rather significant error in this case) pop up that simply HAVE to have been recognized by anyone that created or tested the game IF THEY PLAYED SOME GAMES...even RIGHT NOW!
I am NOT a *****.
I have faithfully documented a couple of franchises in the OS dynasties.
But sorry, I'm out!
This game will sit on the shelf unless and until it's fixed.
I truly regret my purchase.
VIDEO (if available): No need!

Bears self-destruct on Broadway
Let's be very clear...We lost this game! In no way did the Giants win this one!
If you look at the stats, we were more than solid, except for turnovers and the score, of course!
Here's the game for you in sixty seconds:
It doesn't matter whether you can march it up and down the field at will and put tremendous stats up, IF you can't follow that up with minimizing your own mistakes and putting up more points than the opposition. We have now had several games this year where we have clearly been the better team BUT mental errors, lack of finish and players not stepping up to fill injuries, when they are given the chance, have produced losses.
This simply has to end!
We are now 1-3 on the year and could quite easily be undefeated!
I do not like the taste of last place!

Packers edge Bears on Monday Night!
I was hoping for a bounce-back from the previous week, when we were stomped by the Cowboys and the team responded nicely. Unfortunately it wasn't quite enough to produce a win, in front of a national TV audience on Monday Night Football, but we played a spirited game against a very good Packers team.
This game turned out to be a bit of a track meet up and down the field. Both Cutler and Rodgers were throwing at will it seemed, punctuated by only a couple of tries at running the ball, just to put "play action" into the heads of the defense it seemed.
Johnny Knox was Cutler's go-to guy this game, with seven catches and 97 yards!
We dominated the clock, for the most part, but just had trouble finishing. Plus a ton of penalties seemed to bog the game down at times.
I'm a bit disappointed because I thought we had what it took to win this one and I certainly don't want defeat to creep into our everyday language at this point in the season. We have plenty of time, but simply have to finish and put some W's up!
On the injury front, we were again devastated when we lost CB Corey Graham to a disk problem. He'll be gone 9 weeks! That puts our top three return men on the sidelines now as he joins Hester and Manning. And we're still 5 weeks away from the return of Brian Urlacher. This has not been a good year from an injury standpoint!

San Diego State loses a close one in Provo, 18-17.
Turnovers were a big issue for the Aztecs all game, ending with 4 in total. It proved to be a huge factor in the outcome as BYU only had 1 turnover. San Diego State had a 7-6 lead after the 1st quarter, and would stay like that at the half. BYU would add a FG in the 3rd, while SDSU would put up another TD to go up 14-9.
BYU would get their first trip to the end zone early in the 4th on a 13 yard pass to Ashworth, but would fail of their 2-pt try and only lead by 1, 15-14. San Diego State would drive down the field but would have to settle for a FG attempt. SDSU's Kicker Abel Perez had already missed a FG from about the same distance early in the game, but he would drive this one in to take a 17-15 lead with under 2 minutes to go. BYU would put together a great drive getting them into field goal range. They would avoid a near disaster when Riley Nelson nearly threw an Int on a 3rd and 10 play, but the SDSU defender was not able to hold on to the ball. BYU would attempt a 37 Yard FG and convert it. Mitch Payne was 4 for 4 in FG kicking for the Cougars and would be the player of the game after kicking the winning FG and help BYU win 18-17.
The Aztecs would fall to 3-2(0-1) in the season, and will host 2-4(0-3) Air Force next week.

The battle of the young goaltenders was the selling point of the game.
They should have sold the dynamic goal scoring.
Inconsistency was on both the team's goaltenders. Cory Schneider, in his first NHL game, was playing well in the first period. His counterpart, Steve Mason, was also impressive.
The second period showed their lack of experience. Schneider first let in a bad goal from the corner by Derick Brassard. On the ensuing face-off, Brassard let off a shot from beyond the blue line.
Schneider was caught way out of his crease and he fumbled with the puck, as it slowly rolled, hit the post, and went in.
Alain Vigneault was quick to comment on his young goaltender. "It was a bad goal, no doubt, but bad goals are going to happen during the season. This was a good learning experience for him and our offense was top-notch."
R.J. Umberger scored the other goal for Columbus with a spectacular diving effort.
Though the Canucks' first line scored the first goal, the rest of the show was taken away by the second line and the third line.
The second line dominated the second period, scoring two goals and the third line scored three, including an empty netter.
Luongo is scheduled to play for next game. Vigneault has also decided in putting Burrows down to the second line and pulling Torres up to the first line.
"Kesler and Burrows have a really good chemistry - I'm hoping this will result in a even better effect. Torres also seemed to light up the first line. Samuelsson is going to stay put on the third line. They have been on a run lately."
The Canucks are top in their division and conference, as they have 6 wins and 1 shootout loss.
In Other News:
Rick Nash signed for 3 years by the Colorado Avalanche. The former Blue Jackets star was not resigned by the Blue Jackets after negotiations in Columbus failed to attract the interest of the Canadian star.

The cheers at United Center that had been going were quickly drained out. Horns and red lights filled their place.
Many Chicago fans had bought tickets to the game. Some for the sole purpose of watching Vancouver lose again, much like they had for the last two playoffs.
It was not to be.
The Canucks whipped an opening goal in the first period off the stick of Mason Raymond, who was playing with Kesler and recently moved linemate, Raffi Torres.
They added another two in the second period with Samuelsson scoring on the power play and Henrik Sedin scoring again on a power play 4 minutes later.
Another Samuelsson power play goal in the third put the Canucks up 4-0. At this point, the cheers had long been turned into jeers.
A bright spot seemed to show up for the Blackhawks as Daniel Sedin took a penalty late in the third period, after Samuelsson's goal.
It seemed that they would at least break the goose egg. That's when the nightmare started.
The next two minutes were a flurry of attacks, with Burrows and Kesler each scoring and assisting on each other's attempts and Malholtra feeding a streaking Mason Raymond for his second of the night.
The Blackhawks were very undisciplined after their power play ended, picking up 3 minor penalties in the last minute.
The Canucks bombarded the Blackhawks with 36 shots while the Luongo stopped all 16 shots he faced en route to a shutout.

The Canucks were still asleep as another puck flew into their cage. Luongo sat exasperated as coach Alain Vigneault called a timeout.
It seemed to work though.
The Canucks would go on to score 5 unanswered goals - including 2 empty netters in the third period.
Cody Hodgson, the Canucks' prized prospect, scored his first goal of the season midway through the second period to put the game into a tie at 2-2.
"It really feels great to score my first NHL goal. Even though I'm on the 4th line, I am going to try my best and earn a spot on a higher line."
Roberto Luongo also made many spectacular saves, including stopping 5 straight shots on a 3-on-0 rush.
"I just tried to stop as much as possible and I tried to look big in the net," exclaimed an exhausted Luongo, "I think it worked because I stopped those shots."
His counterpart, Ryan Miller, was also quite solid. He made 17 saves on 20 shots, including many odd-man rushes.
As the Canucks' top line continued to roll with Daniel Sedin scoring his first goal and getting his first assist of the season, the team has continued to win. Coach Alain Vigneault has hinted that Raffi Torres will be going back down to the second line for the next game and that Samuelsson will be coming back up.v

I previously started a dynasty but decided I didn't have time. I now do and I am going to post a dynasty that will be updated frequently, but mostly on weekends. The number of pictures may also be lacking due to poor devotion on my part, but meh.
If you would like to see my old format or want me to put the effort into posting in my old format, Google "Road To The Stanley Cup NHL Depot" and you'll probably find it.
Anyways, I started this dynasty already so I'm just going to start from there. It's only gone a few games in anyways.
4 - 3
It was an exciting game - all starting from the second period.
The Canuck's second line continued to shine as Mason Raymond potted a goal 2:45 into the second period.
He was assisted by Ryan Kesler.
"I was just about to head back to the bench when I saw Kes take the puck and head down ice. I quickly streaked up and [Kesler] gave me a nice pass and I roofed it top shelf on Howard."
However, the lead was short-lived.
A bad pass by a tired Hansen resulted in a 2 on 1 with Kris Draper putting in the rebound with 12:71 left in the period.
The resulting roar was deafening as Wing's fans cheered themselves hoarse in the packed Joe Louis Arena.
The third period also had it's own share of goals, with Detroit pulling ahead early in the period and Samuelsson potting both of his goals to put Vancouver ahead 3-2. The latter was a power play goal.
But Detroit did not give up and with a mere 36 seconds on the clock, managed to pull off a equalizer off the blade of Henrik Zetterberg.
"I saw Jimmy [Howard] skate towards the bench and I tried to keep the play alive," said Franzen. "I got there just a stride ahead of Ballard and fed it to Zetterberg, who slotted it in between Luongo's pads."
Overtime solved nothing but was entertaining as the Wing's managed two breakaways, both saved spectacularly by a sprawling Luongo.
In the shootout, Henrik Sedin and Zetterberg scored respectively for their teams while Samuelsson scored the winning goal in the fourth round after Bertuzzi failed to capitalize.
"I'm really glad that the 1st line was able to generate some offence," commented a satisfied Alain Vigneault. "They needed a good game to show their quality, and they did that well tonight."
Vigneault did not comment on whether or not he would keep Raffi Torres on the first line, but Samuelsson was playing with the Sedins during the PP.

The Rams make it look easy against Minnesota’s second team squad.
In what can be described as either a great offensive showing or a weak defensive performance, the Rams looked to be in good form in this early preseason game. It may be too soon to tell whether this performance will last when playing four quarters against an opposing team’s starters, and there were certainly issues with the Rams’ defense and passing game that will need to be worked out, but the ground game was in good effect. Steven Jackson was his dominant self even against a tough Minnesota run defense, but what may be the surprise for the Rams was the presence of RB Daniel Frisch. Despite his small stature, he managed to gash the Minnesota defense for 136 yards rushing. Admittedly, it was mostly against the second team squad, but his quick feet and impressive speed have made a good impression on the coaching staff. It remains to be seen how well he’ll perform in the future, and how much time he’ll see with Jackson in front of him, but as Coach Spagnuolo said, “It’s always a good problem to have two running backs look impressive...Steven [Jackson] is obviously our centerpiece, but it’ll be good if both Daniel [Frisch] and Kenneth [Darby] can take some of the pressure off him and keep him fresh.”
With 434 yards of total offense, it’s safe to say that the somewhat sparse crowd for this preseason game was excited by the ground game, but it remains to be seen whether to expect such a performance once the season actually gets going. But, at least for tonight, the Rams are winners. Hopefully, when it counts, they’ll remain winners as well.
Adrian Peterson 75 yard TD run
Daniel Frisch 26 yard TD run

As training camp is continuing and the first preseason games are almost upon us, we find that the Rams are settling upon their roster selections for the upcoming year. There have been quite a few surprising moves as of late, and we'll break them down for you here:
-A "major" trade will shake up the defense a bit, but hopefully provide the offense with a new weapon that rookie quarterback Sam Bradford will be able to take advantage of. The Rams sent defensive end James Hall and strong safety James Butler to Washington in exchange for tight end Fred Davis and a pair of undisclosed draft picks. Hall was not a spectacular piece of the Rams defensive line, but he was still a solid starter. With Butler gone, the strong safety position seems to belong to second-year man Craig Dahl.
-In the hopes of filling the void left by Hall, the Rams have signed Derrick Burgess. He has been utilized as a linebacker for the past couple of years, but it is expected the Rams will use him at the right end spot in place of Hall. Burgess has had some injury history, but when healthy he has shown he can be a dynamic presence rushing the quarterback. St. Louis has also surprised many by signing Trevor Pryce. Typically a 3-4 defensive end, it seems that, barring a major defensive shift, the Rams will try him in their rotation of defensive tackles to stabilize the middle of the defense.
-The Rams also made moves to help further improve their lackluster defense, bringing in veteran cornerback Shawn Springs, and up and coming linebacker Rashad Jeanty. Springs has had some injury history, but has been a very solid corner when actually on the field. The signing of Jeanty almost shows more about the lack of talent in the Rams outside linebacker corp, as he is expected to be a starter. But he is a good all around linebacker, and should be in good competition with David Vobora for the weak side starting spot.
-Finally, the Rams brought in rookie SS Myron Rolle, HB Daniel Frisch, and WR/KR Yamon Figurs. Out of the three, Figurs may get the most playing time on special teams, where he may challenge WR Danny Amendola for returning duties. Figurs is not very elusive, but he has great breakaway speed, something that the Rams are short on with receiver Donnie Avery landing on injured reserve, and for a team desperate for every yard they can get, he has a chance to be a big difference maker.
Here we have the expected roster for the 2010 St. Louis Rams:
Best Offensive Player: HB Steven Jackson - Even with a bit of an injury history, Jackson is clearly the best player on the team. A powerful running back with a lethal combination of size, speed, and power, when Jackson is healthy this team has a chance. The press may be focusing on the rookie Sam Bradford, but make no mistake, the offense runs through Steven Jackson.
Best Defensive Player: MLB James Laurinaitis - After a very impressive rookie season, Laurinaitis is planted firmly in the middle of a suspect Rams defense. There are great hopes for Laurinaitis, who seems that he is close to becoming a Pro-Bowl caliber talent year after year. The Rams are hoping that he will evolve as a leader and pace setter for the defense this year.
Player With the Most to Prove: (tie)DE Chris Long/RT Jason Smith - Two second overall draft picks; two less than stellar NFL careers so far. Both have been bothered by injuries, but even when on the field, neither one has quite lived up to their overall draft status. St. Louis fans have seen multiple first-round picks on both the offensive and defensive lines fail to impress, so if the Rams are going to improve at all this season, they're going to need far better play from both Long and Smith.
Player Who Could Surprise: TE Fred Davis - Davis was a promising player in Washington, but was stuck behind Chris Cooley, one of the better tight ends in the league. Here, with an offense whose passing game has struggled for years, a somewhat suspect offensive line, a mediocre receiving corp, and a rookie quarterback, Davis could find himself in prime position to make a major contribution to this team and become one of the NFL's better receiving tight ends.
Overall: As bad as the Rams have been, last season has to be seen as a disappointment even by their standards. After going 3-13 and 2-14, only managing one win in 2009 has left a bad taste in this franchise's mouth. Thankfully, it's hard to imagine things getting worse in St. Louis. Plus, with coach Spagnuolo's system firmly in place, ownership of the team finally settled, and the hopeful savior of the franchise in QB Sam Bradford, things have to be looking up for the Rams. Couple that with the weakness overall in the NFC West, and the Rams should be a much more competitive team this year. But expecting a winning record, much less a playoff appearance, seems unlikely.
Season Prediction: 4-12

System - Xbox 360
Difficulty - Custom (All-Pro with some adjustments)
9 minute quarters
Purpose - For Fun
It's hard to believe that only ten years ago, the Rams were entering into the NFL season fresh off an amazing Super Bowl win. This season, they are coming off of a lowly 1-15 season, and most experts have written off the Rams as a lowly franchise searching to find consistency. However, there is still hope in St. Louis as they are now headed by Heisman trophy winner Sam Bradford, and they still have one of the best backs in the NFL in Steven Jackson. Now that Stan Kroenke has been officially given majority ownership, there is newfound hope that the horrible decisions that past owners and managers have made with this team may finally be a part of this team's past, and that the Rams can come back from the bottom of the NFL to become a winning franchise yet again.

Nets Deal Stale, Wizards Zero In On Melo
Rumors including Gilbert Arenas and future draft picks for Nuggets star
With the Nets unable to reach a deal in a 3-way trade with the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets to receive Carmelo Anthony, it appears the Wizards have closed in on the unhappy star.
The trade seems reasonable for both sides, especially for Carmelo Anthony who has been open about his desire to return to the east coast and play closer to home- Baltimore, Maryland- just 40 miles from Washington, DC.
Melo also has admitted he likes the idea of playing with his childhood hero Michael Jordan and a potential future All-NBA point guard John Wall.
Denver would most likely receive guard Gilbert Arenas- a former All-Star that could benefit from a fresh start- along with a role player such as Al Thornton and one or more draft picks.

Wow it's a crazy beginning to the NFL season, esp being a Bears fan... 3-0? Didn't see that coming at all. None the less, I was still going to be my beloved Bears for my offline franshise mode whether they were 0-3 or what they are.... Got some sick draft classes from Loose and Bob... I always try to keep the dynasty real... To be honest, going 16-0 just isn't that fun to me, so a few losses on all madden are more then a welcomed outcome from me. My year 1 depth chart is part of my 1st blog, if you are interested, check it out. Same as the real Bears chart, except I put D. Manning at FS, as i think that suits him better and switched Major Wright to SS, he has big hit power and nice speed, I like my safeties to be quick. Love that 4-6 defense against the run as well

Week 7 match-up (Pats vs. Chargers):
After reading blitz pre-snap, Patriots QB Tom Brady shifted protection accordingly, hot-routed WR Randy Moss (positioned in the slot) on a streak, and threw a deep bomb for a touchdown
Week 6 match-up (Pats vs. Ravens):
Patriots QB Tom Brady exploits a glaring hole in the middle of Baltimore's defense and connects with a wide-open Randy Moss who, thanks to a solid block by Pats WR Brandon Tate, makes the yards-after-catch into a touchdown
Week 4 match-up (Pats vs. Dolphins):
Near the goal line and after snapping out of a tight I-form, Brady sees the Dolphins' linebackers converge over the middle, covering New England's TEs well, but leaving FB Sammy Morris open in the flat, and thanks to a solid block by Pats HB Fred Taylor on the blindside blitzer, Brady has enough time to pass it to Morris, who muscles his way in for 6
Week 3 match-up (Pats vs. Bills):
In a singleback 2-TE set, after reading what appeared to be a rush-outside blitz setup by Buffalo, Patriots QB Tom Brady audibles into a run up the gut for HB Fred Taylor, knowing that if Taylor can break through the line, he will have daylight. And that's exactly what happened
Week 1 match-up (Pats vs. Bengals):
Patriots QB Tom Brady shows why standing tall in the pocket and making the throw as late as possible, to give your WR a chance to get separation and even if it means taking a sure hit, pays dividends, as he connects with Moss running far across the field, and Moss uses the ref as a pick to get even greater separation and turn the YAC into 6
