Charlotte Bobcats logo

The new Charlotte Bobcats NBA franchise released their logo today.

Looks kinda bland to me. Kinda minor-leagish...

Two good points. It does look like those generic made up logos you can use to create your own team.

first one of MLK that Google brought up when I seareched images for Martin Luther.

No fawning over the MLK logo please. I did that in 8 min before leaving for work. It is very crude, so much so that I almost did not post it.

dola, the real logo is just no good. The white nose of the cat gives the cat head a half twisted picasso look to it.

I just liked Martin's expression (the mouth open - shows more emotion than the cat). Elements of the image may be crude, but the idea was what made it.

As for the real logo....I'm about sick of that shade of blue, seems like I've seen it or something similar with the Wizards, Pistons, Raptors and Sixers in recent years. I'ts about as ugly a blue as you can get when used with that drab gray and dull orange. I mean, if you're going to use orange, just go all the way with it, a la the old Bucs and the accent color the Dolphins use.

Of course, why the hell should I care....I don't watch the NBA anyhow.

on a side note. I recall a story that said Bud Adams commisioned a study of team names after moving the Oilers to TN. One thing the study said was no cat or snake names.

Not many cats left to pick from.

CORNNNNY!

Whatever happened to the Charlotte Franchise getting the Hornets name back and New Orleans getting a new nickname altogether?

Also, what's up with Memphis? Are they going to stay the Grizzlies or what?

I agree. No one says that you have to be orange. But if you do, why are you trying to be a "tasteful orange." Be ORANGE, or don't do it at all.

Oh, let's not quibble (though I noticed that too). Maybe he and the owner were on a first/middle name basis. And they can't be the Kings anyway, unless the NBA wants to emulate the CFL.

Mmmm...I think the NBA team must be the Martin Luthers, and the WNBA team the Billy Jeans. The current 'Sting' franchise will then move to New Orleans.

The logo with Martin Luther would look good, that is if they were separating from the NBA, reforming the team and nailing messages to the commisioner's door.
