Hit and Run - the Catholic Bishop story
http://www.msnbc.com/news/927435.asp
These guys are on a roll. I know nobody is a saint but geeze. Especially after the part where they talk about how he allowed priest with child molestation allegations against them be transfered without telling the other places about it. |

Serves him right. He has his hands in the molesting priest scandal about as deeply as Cardinal Law, and he's been even less apologetic about it.

I got a kick out of this quote:
“If anything, something wonderful will happen,” Anna Becerra said as she left the service. “There will be healing and a tremendous amount of prayer for the people in the community.”

About the only time people seem to pull out the "god works in mysterious ways" line is when somebody has died or has been stricken by some disease. |

Right. Part of the reason I could never take organized religion seriously. Opiate for the masses indeed. The scary thing is that until a year ago I used to live at an apartment complex literally right where this accident happened.

Lucky you. With that kind of attitude against organized religion, surely God could have arranged for his annointed bishop to run you down.

Then don't put your faith into any organized religion or in any man, follow Christ instead.

I believe in the teachings of Christ...just not anyone on Earth who claims to understand him.

Here's a bit more follow up on this story from CNN Today.
Bishop Thomas O'Brien resigns I suspect this had more to do with the sex scandal settlement of a couple of weeks ago than anything else, but the timing certainly is interesting.
