The Rules

These are the copy and pasted rules from the very first The FOFC “I’m With Stupid” Contest, written by QuikSand

The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted below, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. Highest score wins.

There aren’t many rules or clarifications necessary, but here are those I can think of:

No collaborating in any way. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by email or in any other way with other potential contestants.

All determinations of “matches” and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this puzzle, MIJB#19. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, that sort of thing.

Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However...

Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask “name a color of the rainbow,” and you and four other people responded “black” - you get five points, period, even if it is not technically a correct answer to the question.

Submit your answers by Private Message to MIJB#19 before Thursday 14:00 Eastern Time.

Anhrydeddu, thanks for feedback on possible questions.

First, thanks for the compliments I received from some people for the good questions.

That's why I (and Anrhydeddu) have selected these questions. Personally, I wanted it to be easy without having to look things up.

Right now, provinding 5 new entrant would show up, 8 of the current competitors are possible winners, without ties.

BTW, three new entries to the psychological barrier of 30:

Question 1: Name a character from the tv series Seinfeld, other then Jerry Seinfeld.

33 - Kramer
6 - George

My Analysis :
I expected a three way tie between Kramer, George and Elaine. I obviously was wrong. I'd now get to think Kramer would have beaten Jerry in this question...
In the end, not naming Kramer is not good for the overall standings, the top 12 named Kramer...
I'm amazed Elaine stands at a big fat zero.

Question 2: Give a 4-letter word related to (American/NFL) Football.

9 - Pass
7 - Punt
6 - Ball
4 - Kick
4 - Sack
2 - Down
2 - Flag
2 - Yard
1 - Boom
1 - Hike
1 - Team

My Analysis :
A very open question with numerous logical awnsers.
Still, the top 2 and the #5 went with Pass.
I wonder what happened to Rush, plus I had a feeling Vick might show up too...

Question 3: Name a current world leader, other then George W. Bush.

29 - Tony Blair
3 - Saddam Hussain
2 - Jacques Chirac
2 - Vladimir Putin
1 - Fidel Castro
1 - John Mayor
1 - Ariel Sharon

My Analysis :
A runaway question, basically as expected.
The top 22 all named Blair.
I guess the UK has turned into the big enemy of the USA, as the other awnsers seem to indicate a tendency towards enemies...

Question 4: Which team will win the Super Bowl next January?

22 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4 - Miami Dolphins
4 - Philadelphia Eagles
3 - Oakland Raiders
3 - St. Louis Rams
1 - Atlanta Falcons
1 - Green Bay Packers
1 - Tennessee Titans

My Analysis : Sadly a runaway question, though the second half of replies saw very few Buccaneers votes.
The top 10 all went with the Buccaneers
So, does this indicate the expectations for an All Florida Super Bowl?

Question 5: In the FOF Series, while building a team, the thing you took the least time for to build was (Choose from the next four): Passing Game, Rushing Game, Pass Defense, Run Defense

13 - Run Defense
10 - Rushing Game
8 - Passing Game
8 - Pass Defense

My Analysis :
The only question with all close awnsers, though in the end the decisive tie breaker.
3 out of the top 10 went with Passing Game, neither of the top 4 did!
Also, one of the awnsers by a participant seems to indicate a serious hint towards the reality inside the game to forget about building a Passing Game...

Question 6: When you read or hear the word Dutch, the first thing coming into mind is...

9 - The Netherlands (includes Holland awnsers)
6 - The FOFCer MIJB#19
3 - The FOFCer Dutch
3 - Amsterdam
3 - windmills
2 - clogs, wooden shoes
2 - European
1 - Apple pie
1 - cookies
1 - Dutch Masters
1 - Dutch Treat
1 - Germany
1 - going Dutch
1 - Goldmember
1 - oven
1 - Ronald Reagan
1 - The Flying Dutchman
1 - The Movie, with Ed "Al Bundy" O'Neill
1 - wooden shoes

My Analysis :
A very open question, with the most obvious (that is, for the FOFC crowd) awnsers on top.
The top 4 and the #6 all went with The Netherlands as awnser.
For some awnsers, I'm not going into finding out where they came from...

Ouch! Good thing I didn't go with Elaine, which was my first thought on #1. Then I figured everyone would list Kramer.

I'm surprised the majority thinks that Tampa is strong enough to repeat. Not that there's obviously anyone better, I just don't know if they'll get everything to fall their way. Or was it just too convenient an answer?

You worked your way up to it, and got it at the end.

I don't know who I'd answer if I were just asked what I really think, but when asked "what will people answer to this question," I quickly defaulted to the reigning champions as the obvious easy answer.

Plus, if I recall correctly, this question was asked before somewhere in the annals of IWS... and the Bucs won that time, also (but by a less decisive margin, I think).

Ironically, TredWel's last IWS win was IWS#20, hosted by...
me.

I see a "Who wins the AFC" in IWS#36
Oakland won with 15 over Miami (7) and Tennessee (4) out of 29 "votes".

IWS#23 had the Super Bowl question as well, though during the 2002 season:
Green Bay won with 9 over Tampa Bay (3), Oakland (2) and Atlanta (2) out of 21 votes.

I'd have to second QuickSands sentiments. If you just ask me who I think would win the Super Bowl I'd say Miami, but within the context of this game I have to go with Tampa. Even though I think they'll struggle to finish 9-7 this season.

A runaway question, basically as expected.
The top 22 all named Blair.
I guess the UK has turned into the big enemy of the USA, as the other awnsers seem to indicate a tendency towards enemies...

Actually I think it was the opposite, he was the only one who absolutly aligned himself with the United States.

Many props to who ever gave this answer, I wanted to so bad but couldn't bring myself to do it.

Agreed, I knew Tampa was going to win easily in that question, but in my heart of hearts could not put them down, figuring I wouldn't have a chance anyway.

You're welcome.
Having a spreadsheet with all the questions and awnsers does come in handy at times, I guess.
(Now, I can't say it was helpful in ending up 2nd in the previous IWS, but still.)

Tredwell,

If you do not desire to do the next IWS, I will do it and accept my responsibilities as #2.

The fact that I have nothing better to do doesn't have anything to do with it...

TredWel probably is getting a little tired of it, but who knows? He's only won the thing 4 god-damn times.

Nah, it was just a bad joke from my side.

Besides, you'd rather be stupid, as you're pretty good at the IWS game (1st in #42 and 3rd in #43)...

Shorty on the other hand can't be stupid, his performance in IWS is too MIJBish... Shorty never reached higher then 8th.
