I typically use around 7. I find with a larger draft you get the minors filling up too quickly with scrubs.

the general rule is that 5 rounds is about right. Many more would just water down the talent pool and hamper development

5-7 seems decent...any more, and the AI will end up playing more advanced, but lesser prospects ahead of more talented ones.

Something important to point out is that you don't need to fill every "roster spot" in the minors. If you only have a C, 1B, SS, 2 OFs, and 2 SPs at AA, "ghost players" will fill in for the other spots and the simulation of the minors and the development of your players will not be affected.

You want to try to keep only one guy per slot in each minor league team... frex, 1 each of C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, DH plus 5 SP and 5 RP. Anything more than that you can't play everyone every day and they start to risk talent loss.

Does anyone else remember the absolutely painful threads over at OOTP-land way back when, as the concept of "ghost players' was being debated? (This would have been back maybe between OOTP2 and OOTP3... some tiem ago) We've had some thick-headed discussions here at FOFC, but that one might have taken the all-time cake. ::shivers::
