From a grunt to his brother
A buddy of mine forwarded an email his brother (marine infantry) sent him for the 4th. I felt it was worth sharing.
"Happy 4th of July everyone. It is another sunny, windy day here in Camp Commando and the amusements are beginning. We are going to have some games, some music and some good chow later and a band. WooHoo! And probably all the non-alcoholic beer we can drink. I would love to be home this day, but I am there in spirit. Maybe some of the Iraqi people are celebrating this day as well... Independence (almost) after years of oppression. Even with all of the political controversy and problems of a campaign of this magnitude, we helped a country. I saw it almost everyday in the faces of the Iraqi people we helped. The people waved and cheered as we paraded through the streets of Iraq, the children running alongside our vehicles like we were celebrities. Like we were their heroes. I guess we were." Happy 4th of July Mike.

Thanks for that, Fritz.
All politics aside, these men are risking there lives everyday. Not for the politics, not for the Iraqi's, but because they want to do what is right for our nation. Sometimes people may disagree with the why, when, where, or who, but they don't have the luxury to disagree. They just do it. Rock on and God bless. ![]() |
