The Rules

These are the copy and pasted rules from the very first The FOFC “I’m With Stupid” Contest, written by QuikSand.

The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted below, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. Highest score wins.

There aren’t many rules or clarifications necessary, but here are those I can think of:

No collaborating in any way. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by email or in any other way with other potential contestants.

All determinations of “matches” and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this puzzle, JeeberD. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, that sort of thing.

Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However...

Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask “name a color of the rainbow,” and you and four other people responded “black” - you get five points, period, even if it is not technically a correct answer to the question.

Submit your answers by Private Message to JeeberD before Friday 23:59 Central Time.

By the way, this will not be my best IWS ever considering there's a baseball question in this one.

I can see how people need research on 3 or 4 of the questions.
Personally, I researched for 2 and just guessed on 1.

Could have done 5 or 6, but it would have been the first thought that came to mind. So I checked with buddies on that one.

Had to look up #4 - awful question IMO. How many people from FOFC are going to know the powerpuff girls?

I thought about editing the question to list their names, but I thought that the order that I listed them might affect the way people voted.

Here's an updated list of participants (we're up to 22):

Katon
vtbub
MIJB#19
Sachmo71
Sublime
gold101
mrsimperless
Shorty3281

Sybot
TheLionKing

Tredwel
Chief Rum
tucker342
pjstp20
albionmoonlight
Draft Dodger
MizzouRah
VPI97

A couple of the questions have runaway leaders, a couple of question have a couple of leaders battling it out, and a couple of questions are very mixed. So far, no one has a perfect score.

It's anybody's ballgame. Keep those entries coming!!!

Power Puff Saves The Day!

(Having a 3yo sister helps, as does watching Cartoon Network.)
Don't post the names, it will affect the outcome of the game in an undesired way (at least for the earlier participants.)
Besides, if nobody knows the names, the question will only be some sort of tiebreaker, not a big decission maker.

I have a 3yo son - thanks for making me feel old

He doesn't watch Powerpuff yet, though he he does tell me "I need to watch my show.". What show? "George Shrinks". Sorry Cole, I don't think it's on. "Kim Possible". The first time he said this, I was surprised, I didn't even know he knew about Kim Possible (Disney). I didn't think he'd even watched it before

Oh, and I'm in.

Oops, sorry for the typo, it was supposed to read 13yo sister.

Personally, I haven't been seeing the Powerpuff girls a lot since they decided to narrate the cartoons on Cartoon Network to Dutch, ugh.

Next time, you'd better ask a Pokémon question, JeeberD.

Does that have anything to do with the fact that this is the first one involving a PowerPuff Girl question?

I for one am hoping against hope that I do not do well in this IWS. I'd hate to forever be known as the winner of the IWS that involved both the Baseball and PowerPuff Girl questions.

And here are the results for I'm With Stupid #45

1. Name a current or former Dallas Cowboys quarterback.

Troy Aikman - 33
Roger Staubach - 4
Quincy Carter - 1

Troy ran away with this one. I was expecting a few more Staubach votes, but I guess that you guys have short memories...

2. Aside from Berlin or Frankfurt, name a city in Germany.

Munich - 26
Hamburg - 9
Stuttgart - 1
Bonn - 1
- 1

I was expecting a more widespread vote on this one, and was surprised at all the Munich votes. I guess Oktoberfest has made Munich one of the more famous cities in Germany.

3. Name a Stephen King novel.

It - 11
The Shining - 7
The Stand - 7
Cujo - 5
Carrie - 4
Pet Semetary - 1
The Green Mile - 1
Christine - 1
- 1

A nice spread out vote there...

4. Name one of the Power Puff Girls.

Blossom (the red one) - 20
Buttercup (the green one) - 10
Bubbles (the blue one) - 8

The controversial Power Puff Girls question had a pretty definitive winner. Blossom was the obvious choice since she's the 'leader' of the group, and sure enough, she was the leading vote getter.

5. Who is currently the best closer in MLB?

John Smoltz - 21
Eric Gagne - 10
Mariano Rivera - 7

Rivera got off to a quick start, capturing the first four votes, but then Smoltz took over and blew everyone else away. No love for my boy Billy Wagner though. That's sad...

6. Name a brand of bottled water.

Evian - 19
Dasani - 11
Aquafina - 4
Perrier - 2
Aquarius - 1
Poland Spring - 1

And here are the final results:

Chief Rum 33 26 7 20 21 19 47,927,880 63.64%
Nothingman 33 26 7 20 21 19 47,927,880 63.64%
Sublime 33 26 11 20 21 11 43,603,560 57.89%
Butter_of_69 33 26 11 20 21 11 43,603,560 57.89%
cartman 33 26 11 10 21 19 37,657,620 50.00%
Tredwel 33 26 5 20 21 19 34,234,200 45.45%
Alf 33 26 11 20 7 19 25,105,080 33.33%
Mustang 33 26 7 20 10 19 22,822,800 30.30%
Syrinx 33 26 7 8 21 19 19,171,152 25.45%
QuikSand 33 9 7 20 21 19 18,336,780 24.35%
Frozenrope 33 9 7 20 21 19 16,590,420 22.03%
albionmoonlight 33 26 11 8 10 19 14,345,760 19.05%
KWhit 33 26 7 10 21 11 13,873,860 18.42%
Cuervo72 33 26 4 10 21 19 13,693,680 18.18%

Congratulations to our co-winners, Chief Rum and Nothingman. This is Chief's first victory while Nothingman has won once before (IWS #6).

The torch is now passed. Have fun creating IWS #46, gentlemen...

EDIT: Nope, it isn't. Good thing this isn't Jeopardy!

Not bad, a third place finish!
The only reason I answered IT for the Steven King novel was because my sister made me watch it when i was like 6, and to this day, clowns scare the living shit out me.

Heh, cool!

I have been terrible in these things the four or five times I have done it. I guess I'm getting better (or I just got very lucky ).

Well, Nothingman, what's the plan? I'll be glad to do it if you like, or we can commisserate. Let me know, or PM me.

Darn. I had It down initally for #3, and then erased it in favor for Cujo.

Of course, it's not like I really need to win another one of these things ...

100% in the top 4 question and then choking in the last two...
That's terrible.

BTW, the Stephen King question has been asked before in an earlier IWS.
It and The Stand tied for first back then...
