World Cup - Group Round II game 1

USA vs England

US 3-5-2 vs England's incomprehensible 4-5-1

Canada vs Romaina
3-5-2 vs 4-5-1

Sverige vs Nederland
3-5-2 vs 4-5-1

Suomi vs Deutschland
3-5-2 vs incomprehensible 3-5-2

Three teams are using a 4-5-1. Does defense matter in Hattrick?

Two teams using illegal formations. Does confusion matter?

Canadas Scott Rummens gave, after 6 minutes, the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right.

Figures a 4-5-1 would give up the first goal.

And for the one game that had no updates until now...

After 15 minutes Deutschland put themselves up by 0 - 1 as Ingo Kulka finished off a strike from the left with a real cannon placed at the far post. Turkka Kiviaho pulled a real crowd pleaser as he, in the 15:th minute, wove through the guests whole central defense line and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away.

Edit: Then Suomi missed a chance in the 16th minute.

Pulling back should not be a concern, considering that the English are only playing with one forward.

Strange update on England's chance (right after US pulls back, I agree that it is not really a concern). I think they missed a word.

Does anyone remember a band by the name of The The?

Am I dating myself by asking this question?

Yes

I'm not excited with the first half. This has 3-2 losses written all over it.

Am I correct in thinking that the US needs to come in 1st in the group to avoid Sweden in the Semis?

You're exactly right NAIWF. If we're going to run into the Swedes, we want to do it in the finals, thereby guaranteeing us at least a silver medal.

A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 57 minutes might have resulted in another goal for USA. However, George Carey made a spectacular save.

Team U.S.A. is still putting on some pressure, despite dropping back in the first half. I'd say that we should have this one won.

I'm just wondering what made England's 4-5-1 incomprehensible. Must be 4 inner mids and only 1 winger.

After 76 minutes USAs Andy Messina had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony. Richard Bello came in instead of him.

That doesn't sound good

I guess the good news is that Andy is only 23, turning 24 soon. Hopefully he'll heal quick.

Dola. What comes around, goes around...

In the to 80:th minute a very unfortunate collision in the home teams penalty area led to England´s Guy Shaw being carried off the pitch and replaced by Steve Lee.

Could his team load up on doctors and get him back for the Finals?

2-0 vs. England is a great step towards #1 in the Group. I think Canada is going to finish ahead of England

We won't be in the finals. For some reason we MOTSed this match. Can't say I'm happy about that, but I'm not the coach.

I've been thinking about it. The only reason I wouldn't is because I'd have to answer billycu's insanely long, perennial questionnaire again Man, that thing took me three hours to answer last time!

Three hours seems about right. I seem to recall spending about that much time when I was running for U-20 coach.

So that's what explains the Furious tem spirit. I couldn't figure why, now I know why...

I'm still requesting FOFC votes for me for national trainer in the first round, just to get my name on the ballot. Then change your vote to whoever we really want to win.

I just wanna show up so people go 'who the hell is Coffee Warlord?'
