The T-wolves are screwed...

No Juwan Howard and now no Rasho Nesterovic.. I hope Sam Cassell can play some Power Forward/Center.

I hope Rick Rickert works out well at 'power' forward for them. I've seen female figure skaters with more power than him.

He's a little better than the token white guy center, as he's not as flat footed as most of them. Decent inside, though he was a contibuting factor to the Wolves not being real tough inside when Garnett was playing the 3. Average player who should be able to get the job done with a guy like Duncan playing around the basket with him.

so, do you even think when you type?

rasho is replacing robinson. from an offensive standpoint, its an upgrade. he's a finesse scorer, and as a 4th option he'll get a lot of mismatches, since the primary big men will be concerned with duncan. we should also get many more productive minutes out of him. he isn't a great rebounder, and i have no clue about his defense aside from that he isn't a shot blocker. but he's big and he can shoot

Why? Would they otherwise have you flogged for your insolence?

Well, the Spurs got the best of the leftovers given that they didn't want to tie up their money for two weeks waiting for the Clippers to match an offer on Elton Brand. Whether Nesterovich is an upgrade on Robinson remains to be seen. If only Olowakandi wasn't such a moron, he would have been good to get.

Whoa, who pissed in your cherrios this morning. As a Laker fan I just like to point and laugh at the Spurs.

I'd say Memphis has the best front office staff, seeing as how Jerry West is probably one of the best GM's ever

The best they could do to replace the Admiral is some guy named Nestor. The Lakers get the Glove and the Mailman, the Spurs get Nestor.

Payton and Malone were terrible additions for the Lakers. Their talents are unquestionable but doesn't address what the Lakers need. And now we get to see who whines first about not having the ball enough time.

Nesterovich seems like a guy who can play inside and provide the alternate inside scoring option to Duncan. And he already knows how to play alongside a superstar without whining. I do wonder, though, why they never even considered Olowokandi.

If Kenny Thomas is worth $50 million over six years, I think the Spurs got a steal. What are the Sixers thinking?

They probably will whine, but oh well. 6.9 million for 2 HOF's that just want a ring. Malone came for 1.2 million dollars. You can have Nestor, I'll keep these 2 two, even if it's 2 players I dont like too much

You have to love the analysis of the Lakers signings. First you have the above example. If I were to point out that the meshing of egos is exactly one of the strong points of their coach, I would expect the following answer.... "With all the talent on that team, who couldnt coach them to a title. My grandma could coach that team."

On this board, if the Lakers win, they suck. If they lose, they suck.

[Insert action by the Lakers].... "They suck!"

I was being sarcastic. I would think from my presence in most Laker threads you would get that.

First of all, I've always acknowledged that Jackson's strongpoint is his ability to handle personalities (and his ability to get out of Tex Winter's way with regards to X's and O's). If you want to you can probably go back to an old thread discussing Phil Jackson and see me saying that. Second, I'm not sure who you might have me confused with but I've never said they suck. I'm sad that I can no longer watch the team I cheered for when I was a kid because I see zero teamplay but I've never said they suck whether they win or lose. If you can find a single place where I've said so ANYWHERE I'd love to see it and I'll gladly apologize. Until then, please kiss my ass if you want to clump me with other people who may not cherish your beloved Lakers.

As for the acquisition of Malone and Payton, I didn't like it when it was rumoured and I still don't like it. Those two likes having the ball and their game CENTERS on having the ball (or getting them, in Malone's case), which precisely mirrors the problem last year with Bryant and O'Neal. How is Bryant going to do his 17 crossovers at the top of the key before going by the guy and shooting a fadeaway when Payton will be pounding it on the wing to back down another guard? How will Malone get his shot in the post when O'Neal is posted down there? I will say that I've seen Malone become very proficient with his outside shots in recent years but will he be happy with just that? I thought Mitch had an incredible draft (with some luck on Cook's drop) and would have loved to see them add a worker bee like PJ Brown and an outside shooter like Steve Kerr or Jon Barry. The Lakers have the two most dominant players in the leauge and what they needed was complements to accentuate those guys.

Cool your jets with all the KISS MY ASS talk. I said the whole board. This board is extremely anti-Laker.

Somehow with all the non-existant team play of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal (again, thats sarcasm) the Lakers managed to win 3 of the last 4 championships.

Bryant and O'Neal are the two most dominant players in the game, there are NOBODY who can stop either one-on-one. So, no, it's not surprising they can win 3 of 4. And, if you'd like to actually read what I said without being injured by my dislike of the Lakers' current style of basketball, you'd actually see that I never said they were not good or that they, as you say, suck. I said there is a lack of teamplay. I can try to work up a writeup on the difference later, if you need one.

Kinda hard to take a comment as "the whole board" when I'm the one actually quoted in your comment and I've been one of the people who've never said your beloved Lakers suck. I can't see how you can classify "the whole board" is anti-Lakers. There are people who dislike the Lakers and there are people who like the Lakers. Same crap when the Yankees come up. Same crap when the 49ers come up. About the only team nobody can work up an 'anti' feeling for is the Bengals, where everyone simply expresses their condolences to those strong enough to admit to be their fans.

Lots of players would be unstoppable if they could get away with what Shaq does.

That makes sense.

I guess that mean's if Corey Maggette gets all the calls, he's the next coming of Jordan.

The T-Wolves just signed Olowokandi to replace Rasho.
At least they got someone.

I take it they're hoping that this signing of a former #1 overall draft pick will go better than the last one.

So, they send him to the foul line? That's the only defense ever played against Shaq, other then rest their arm on his back which, by your NBA rule book, is a foul

I don't know that he gets away with all that much (I haven't watched too much recent years), the problem just seems to be how big and strong he is.

So is anti-Lakerism becoming a new form of anti-PC? Are anti-Lakers just like white males, the oppressive majority? Perhaps those of us not born with the underprivilaged upbringing of a Lakers fan need sensitivity training.

We just don't understand the hell it is to be a Lakers fan.

Is there an American player now in the starting 5 for the Spurs

Rasho is Slovenian
Duncan is from Virgin Islands (is that USA ?)
Tony is French
Bowen & Jackson both played in French teams

This is another reason for French people to support the Spurs !
