I can see it being just like the PT Cruiser. Cool at first, and then becoming increasingly more ugly every time that I see it...

I'm sorry, but this thing looks infinitely better than the PT Cruiser. Not that I'd buy this either. It is, after all, still a Chevy.

Much better looking that the PT Cruiser...still pretty nasty, though.

You know, I keep hearing this and I just don't see why. I've owned 5 brand new,a nd 3 used GM cars in my lifetime thus far, and I have yet to have to take any of them to the shop for anything that I didn't choose to have updated/fixed/changed. The brand new cars have been: 200 cavalier, never once needed anything but oil changes and gas in the 3 years we leased it. currently a pontiac vibe which again is proving solid dependable and without doubt a real brute for carrying a loaded trunk space. I've also had a full size truck which drove forever, even after I cracked the radiator and overheated it multiple times these are just examples, but I really cannot understand people bashing GM's quality. I've heard of one truly bad car they built and that was the malibu, and the problem with that was the japanese designed engine they put in it. Once they reverted to an older GM designed engine I stopped hearing about them as well. So what gives? I hear constant complaints from friends and coworkers who own fords that their cars are always fucked up. in fact on coworker was so proud of their new ford ranger, they talked it up and down. Until the day they came to work in a cab because the drive shaft literally fell OFF the truck at a stop light..... |

Well, I posted about a 1,000 word essay, then hit the wrong reply button and lost it all.
I've owned or worked on family members GM cars a good bit as well (at least 17 different vehicles that I can think of) and have just had a variety of issues with them. Quick disconnect hose fittings, transmissions with poorly designed sun gears, etc. Bottom line is if you are pleased with the cars you've owned then by all means keep buying them. I haven't been, and I'm not one to get into a car war with anyone. I should know better than to post such opinions, in fact, as they're up to personal experience and tend to just start unproductive flame wars that more than often turn into the literal equivalent of "my car company could kick your car company's ass." In fact, I'll delete the earlier post. |

Unless you believe the PT was butt ugly in the first place and then gotten more ugly. This SSR looks even worse, imo. But then again, it could be yet another one of those generational things. |

I thought that the PT Cruiser was cool at first because it was new and different. But then I realized that it was just a stylized mini-van, and after seeing tons of them on the road, I have grown very sick of them...

VW Beetle MINI Pooper Chevy SSR Thanks, I've added this to the list of ugly Matchbox cars to make fun of. At least the other cars on the list don't cost 40 Gs. Last edited by Craptacular : 07-16-2003 at 02:13 PM. |

My son's got the hotwheels version of this. More like a modern El Camino than PT Cruiser.

I drive a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 and the only problems I've had with it are hose problems. It overheated once when I first got it & there was a small leak in it once. Besides that, its been great. No drive shaft falling off or anything. Good thing about Chevy is that there are no anagrams to make fun of it like Ford
(Fixed Or Repaired Daily or Found On Road Dead).
