Please keep me from spending - Ultra Nox Season 2

Ah yes, gone are the days of polite verbiage, when I could blow the cash on chicks, drugs, and transfer rookies...nope, all done now...did my last transaction and the shareholders are looking to rope me up.

We fumbled at the end of the season, and tumbled into 5th place and thus no money (unless you count a qualification match). Still stuck in V.56 with no place to go...but since there is two weeks of down time and I'm 80k under -200k, I need to keep away from the market.

Goals for the year (no pun intended, well maybe).

1. The board wants me to place in the top four (get some money).
2. The board refutes permission to make any transfers until:
a) we're in positive cash flow.
b) a new stadium is built.
3. The board wishes me to pick one training set and stick with it.

After slowly piece by piece taking away debt, I've come to the dreaded two week gap, where I'll be paying but there be no playing...I may sell off a player or two just to keep things civil.

Let's take a look at the Ultra Nox by position.

Stikers first!

"Striker, striker, STRIKER (quietly) Ted Striker?-Airplane

Done by value, be aware that all players still haven't had the universal birthday yet.

We've six strikers to choose from, some new faces, one old face.

Xu Hey-You
98 000 US$, 18 years, excellent form
Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities [Head]

Stamina: wretched Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: solid
Winger: wretched Defending: inadequate
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: wretched

mean Malaysian bought for about 28k, he'll learn a bit of stamina but has the passing ability to be very good should he get to passable scoring (or better). The header ability along with being 18 (19 next season) makes him a nice grab...but time will tell.

Gary Grewar
59 000 US$, 19 years, solid form
Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: passable

The "vet" you knew him, you loved him from last season, fell to second place in the scoring title, is close to that fabled solid scoring status, but will the Nox train it?!? A bit of a ball hog, but durable

Atle Eide
39 000 US$, 19 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate Defending: poor
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: wretched

Atle was grabbed to help compliment Grewar after the sale of Bart Zabawa (my solid striker). Sadly he had some form issues, and now is transfer bait, especially if I do train scoring and he hits the solid ceiling

Gospodin Cholakov
31 000 US$, 19 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities [Quick]

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: wretched Defending: weak
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: wretched

Brought in after Atle began to falter in form, Gosopodin has good leadership skills, is quick, and is close to passable...

Vidar Dahl
27 000 US$, 17 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: weak Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: poor

Vidar is a mean SOB. Part of one of my many spendthrift frenzies I got him cheap but never developed him...this season could be the one where I do. Transfer bait should I train him up to solid

Alberto Pimenta
13 000 US$, 18 years, weak form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities [Quick]

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: poor
Winger: weak Defending: weak
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: weak

Alberto was the odd man out, his form is bad because his playing time has been severly cut short. Quick and young, he seems to need much training to even get to passable...but was a cheap pickup...

Six strikers means one too many unless I play the 3-4-3 or the 2-5-3, so there is an odd man out...but I don't know maybe I'll let my gentle readers (all five of you man!!) pick my training set.

Soylent Green is people!!!-Soylent Green

Yes, yes...the green, the midfield, the pitch...my midfield squad has had some changes as well...this is currently what I train...(for now).

This will be inner mids only though some players may show up more than once in different categories.

Frédéric Amoudry
103 000 US$, 20 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities [Head]

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: solid Passing: inadequate
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor

The Frenchman got hurt last season and that hurt us badly because even when he recovered his form didn't. Slowly he's getting back...probably our most well rounded middie, though Delay comes close...stamina should be better this season, hope the form will be...if not, he'll go on the wire.

Steve Delay
90 000 US$, 17 years, excellent form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: passable
Winger: poor Defending: passable
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor

When I bought this Aussie, he had inadequate defense and inadequate PM...we're working on the PM, and stamina will be better this season as well (I hope)...He can play defense and may be better off there with counterstrike tactics, but I always had him pegged for a mean middie, could get to solid by the end of this season, and he'll only be 18!!

Lucio Cabras
61 000 US$, 20 years, passable form
Has poor experience and weak leadership abilities

Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: wretched Defending: inadequate
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: passable

One of my first acquisitions, Cabras is a defensive middie all the way...just bumped to passable in PM, I probably will be lucky to see solid...his stamina is what keeps him on the field...also has the highest experience rating after the coach, go figure

Lúcio Gomes de Freitas
36 000 US$, 19 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and passable leadership abilities

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: weak
Winger: wretched Defending: inadequate
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: wretched

Unless his stamina does something big, Lucio will sit on the bench unless its a friendly, he could garner some cash should I need it . He's expendable.

Heine Arntzen
29 000 US$, 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: inadequate
Winger: inadequate Defending: wretched
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: poor

Heine can play winger or middie, right now, he's a "B" team player until his stamina and PM skills improve...but he would be nice as a PM passable, winger passable player...time will tell

Per Hansson

27 000 US$, 18 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and disastrous leadership abilities [Head]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: poor
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: poor

I would say Per is the "Rodney Dangerfield" of my midfield squad...good stamina, good PM, but no respect. He's a fill in and that's it because his secondaries are quite "poor". Still he could see playing time, because of injuries to starters.

Louis Vu
20 000 US$, 17 years, excellent form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: disastrous
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: excellent

Hark! It's a youth pull...Vu managed to get an excellent in set pieces so he's still around...but he's only good if the stamina and PM get better, but I foresee a waiver wire in his future

Thomas Lie
12 000 US$, 18 years, weak form
Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: wretched
Winger: wretched Defending: inadequate
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: wretched

Again a victim of roster space, Lie has basically rotted on the vine, but can't be moved. I'd like him to pop to passable and then sell him cheap, but he hasn't popped...

Thus concludes inner middies.

"She's only seventeen!!!-Winger

Next up are the wingers...now I've got a good few of these, and with the new rules, it just may be wise to start training them instead of middies...here goes...

Carl Leonard
102 000 US$, 17 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: passable
Winger: passable Defending: poor
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: weak

Of the offensive winger mold, young and American...if I train him, he could be excellent before the end of next season.

Odd Torp
53 000 US$, 17 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Technical]

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: inadequate
Winger: passable Defending: poor
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: wretched

The Norwegian could play a big role this coming season. Again young and healthy, he could be just like Leonard and compete for a starter spot

Rex Braun
46 000 US$, 18 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities [Unpredictable]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: solid Defending: wretched
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: inadequate

Braun got injured. But the upredicatable Canadian could be a formidable before the end of next season, and only 19. His secondaries are much weaker than Leonard and Torp...and he's hurt (hence the low value) which could be a sign of things to come.

Per Josefsson
31 000 US$, 17 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: poor
Winger: passable Defending: poor
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: weak

Joesfesson used to be a starter, but he's not bitter. Young, he has no passing skills but could be better of hitting solid and being trained to excellent and sold.

Heine Arntzen
29 000 US$, 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: inadequate
Winger: inadequate Defending: wretched
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: poor

Heine could play middie or wing, but he's not really good at either just yet...hopefully he could get to PM passable, then if I do train winger, he could get to solid before the season is out.

Chong-Sik Kwan
7 000 US$, 19 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities

Stamina: disastrous Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: poor
Winger: passable Defending: poor
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor

Chong-Sik is not going to really be a factor...but he will get playing time if everyone else gets hurt...he's a psuedoclown, which is something to show for it. He may or may not last long with this team...but I believe he won't be a factor.

The wingers I have are young and trainable. I could see the turnover to solid and excellent quite easy, but the question is, will I turn a profit?...I've seen solid wingers go for as low as 13k, and up to 100k! I know most of it relies on the secondary abilities, Leonard and Torp, even Arntzen have those abilities while Braun would be the first to formidable status...

Go away or I'll call the brute squad
I'm on the Brute Squad
You /are/ the Brute Squad-Princess Bride

Defense, short on it, but I think I've got some goodies...
Starting off...

Ike Noe
147 000 US$, 22 years, passable form
Has wretched experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Powerful]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: weak
Winger: inadequate Defending: solid
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: passable

Noe is my vet...been with the team from the start. He'll be excellent for the shutdown option of tactics as he is powerful. His solid defending should be high solid. He could play mid or wing in a pinch, but mainly he's all about the defense.

Steve Delay
90 000 US$, 17 years, excellent form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: passable
Winger: poor Defending: passable
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor

You saw him in the midfield...he would be excellent for the counterstrike option. But I'm more set on him becoming a midfielder...but he'd make an excellent offensive defender if he gets his stamina up

Christian Hansson
50 000 US$, 17 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Quick]

Stamina: weak Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate Defending: passable
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: inadequate

I had Hansson listed as a project for winger...but at best he'll be a defensive winger...if I'm lucky. His quick skill will actually decrease his ability as a defender, so I'm more interested in him being a winger...but the poor passing puts a damper in things...that and all the other wingers ahead of him...for now he starts at wingback defensive

Sidney Levin
30 000 US$, 19 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Powerful]

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: inadequate
Winger: poor Defending: passable
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretched

I didn't notice Levin was a powerful defender too, so it'll be nice to use him and Noe to close down opponents. His inadequate passing will help as well....he is from my farm system

That's it for defense, but a ton of the previous players above have inadequate skills in defense should any of the above get hurt.

"You want me on that wall. You /need/ me on that wall!"-Jessup. A Few Good Men

Goalkeeper has been handled quite well by one man...in and out for most of the season...his name is: (drumroll).

Saphou Supriyadi
282 000 US$, 20 years, excellent form
Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities

Stamina: poor Keeper: passable
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous
Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous
Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: disastrous

I truly believe Saphou is close to solid, but he'll forever be just passable because I have no time to train goalkeeper, but he's good at what he does...and I'm glad to have him

Petar Belberov
39 000 US$, 20 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and passable leadership abilities

Stamina: wretched Keeper: weak
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: wretched
Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous
Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: disastrous

I believe I got Petar for about I'd say a grand...he's good for friendlies...god help me should Saphou go down...Belberov would I believe be very poor as a substitute, but he's all we got.

Any news on the boyfriend front?
I was kind of seeing someone: an author.
And what happened?
He committed suicide.
Oh I'm so sorry.
It's alright. I didn't really like him very much. I liked him even less after he committed suicide.
How did he do it?
He threw himself off a building. He didn't even do that properly. It was only a 3 story building. He would have survived only a car ran him over.
What sort of books did he write?
Self-help books...
* Scene Between Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh...Peter's Friends *

The coach used to be my rock, now he may be a weak spot and a hit in the wallet in a few seasons...

Benedetto Amici (10504267)
42 years, poor form, healthy
A solid coach who is defensive minded
A pleasant guy who is calm and honest.
Has inadequate experience and weak leadership abilities.

[i]He came with the team...he was a nice decent coach...now I gotta be in constant fear for the skills to degrade...but I was happy with him...now I expect him any day now to be writing selfhelp books[/t]

That is it for now...I've done stamina training and I've upped my spokespersons up to 10 (the board said nothing about club employees).

John Adcock
75 000 US$, 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities [Head]

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: inadequate
Winger: weak Defending: wretched
Scoring: solid Set Pieces: wretched

My first youth pull of the new season, and I've been told by certain sources for it as being a major deal. Joe has all the ability to be a good striker...perhaps even formidable before the end of the season....needless to say at the suggestion of fellow FOFC hattrickers figuring out a price, I placed him on the transfer wire for a cool 2 million. If no one bites, I'll train scoring as Joe is a high solid and should pop to excellent, and therefore command even more money.

I don't know yet if this is a good thing or not because I won't know till about tues whether or not Joe will be sold. But if he is, I can complete some of the boards' demands such as profit and stadium.

Needless to say, I'm thankful for that solid youth squad now, and I hope everyone who plays can be lucky like this once...I think I won't ever moan again about the youth pull if he does sell.

Still stumped yet on what to train if Joe does get sold...amazing that the fate of the team hangs in the balance on one made up 17 year old.

Whatever you decide to train, you should take the leftover proceeds after the stadium, and get as many 17-YO passables as you can train. Congrats on the big score!

You should rename your dynasty, how to blow 2 million in one year!

Jesus must want you on the transfer market bad to give you that kind of youth pull. Imagine the trickle down effect of this kind of cash. Some poor manager in vietnam will be able to eat because of your habits. I am proud...

Once Joe is sold (as long as it's over a million or two).

1. New stadium (I'm looking at about 25k total seating)
2. Hire some economists to have positive interest.
3. Try to avoid the transfer market until I figure out:
a)what to train
b)buying one or two quality prospects without losing my shirt....
c)buying one or two quality vets to push us over the top in our division and to go far in the cup (more money)
4.Funding the Fighting Crawfish as long as I get Australia and all the attactive women in it.

That's seems to be it this season, it'll be fun if I don't blow it all. Though I'm sure I'll make a few owners happy (I usually shop in Norge).

And as an added bonus, I will throw in all of Oceania free of charge! That is all but the peanut butter mines located somewhere in the Pacific. Rumors of peanut butter as far as the eye can see and the locals cover themselves in it because of its abundance! That island will be mine...

3. Nationals 3 5 - 3 6
4. Ultra Nox 3 7 - 6 6
5. Riddle 3 7 - 5 3
6. Raytown Ballers 3 3 - 12 3
7. Mesa Mehados 3 2 - 6 0
8. Screamin' Eagles 3 3 - 12 0

That goal of being in the top four is still possible, but there are several teams that are scary, the Mehados got off to a rough start but they are still dangerous with their defense. Raytown Ballers have been dormant, and the Eagles were busted for cheating

8/13/2003 Sold John Adcock to EarthQuakE 703 000 US$ (76 000 US$)

With this knowledge I grab a decent defender, and go into hunting for someone worth training, I decide that a nice young solid keeper would help things along.

But first I expand my stadium...since the league is so tough, I take the lowest setting because when I run into Ring of Fire and Heavy Metal for 4 games, the fans may revolt if I got 0-4.

CONSTRUCTION

Construction in progress

The arena is surrounded by cranes and construction equipment. The project is expected to be finished by8/23/2003.

Terraces: 5600
Basic seating: 2240
Seats under roof: 1696
Seats in VIP boxes: 424

It will be completed just in time for next week's home game against the hapless Ballers. Max cash should be 88k for each sellout.

Strikers
* denotes starter

*Óscar Alvarez
248 000 US$, 18 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities [Head]

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: passable
Winger: inadequate Defending: poor
Scoring: solid Set Pieces: inadequate

Alvarez was my 2nd best youth pull, but he can play midfield as well as striker, or winger to mid, versatile and deadly, he will be kept on for a long time.

*Xu Hey-You
100 000 US$, 19 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities [Head]

Stamina: wretched Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: solid
Winger: wretched Defending: inadequate
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: wretched

Hey-You is a fan favorite, I want to train scoring just to bump him to passable, but it will have to wait until we face the Ballers. Still a very useful striker, helped set up most of the goals in the past few games. That stamina will be a killer though in some games

Gary Grewar
64 000 US$, 20 years, solid form
Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: passable

Grewar, the bold Scotsman, has been moved to defender for some games just to help keep form. He'll see some A team games, and has the potential to hit solid scoring. In the meantime, he'll play most b games where needed

Atle Eide
44 000 US$, 20 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate Defending: poor
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: wretched

Eide is a decent backup player, but I believe he may be close to hitting solid, which if it is the case, he'll be sold for some cash

Gospodin Cholakov
25 000 US$, 20 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities [Quick]

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: wretched Defending: weak
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: wretched

Go was a nice acquisition when all my strikers started going down to injury or form problems, however, he's been in a funk since most of his playing time was taken by Adcock. Now that he's gone, Go can get some time on the b squad.

*Lucio Cabras
71 000 US$, 21 years, solid form
Has weak experience and weak leadership abilities

Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: wretched Defending: inadequate
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: passable

Good defensive midfielder, could get to solid before the season ends if I continue to train midfield

Frédéric Amoudry 4
61 000 US$, 21 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities [Head]

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: solid Passing: inadequate
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor

Amoudry has really disappointed this year, the top notch Frenchman has been plagued by injuries. He's looking to be waiverwire fodder

*Guillermo Sala
37 000 US$, 19 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: inadequate
Winger: wretched Defending: weak
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretched

Amoudry's successor has played quite well as an offensive middie. Hoping to get that PM skill up. Guillermo has good leadership skills, I'm glad to have plucked him for pocket change

*Per Hansson
32 000 US$, 19 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and disastrous leadership abilities [Head]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: poor
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: poor

Per is my worst starting midfielder, but he's durable and consistent. It would be nice if he hits solid this year

Bernard Cammans
28 000 US$, 19 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: wretched Defending: poor
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: weak

Cammans was acquired as a stopgap for any other midfielder injured players...but he's no different than Per save the stamina. Not flashy, a good roleplayer

Leonard Laaniste
19 000 US$, 17 years, inadequate form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: poor
Winger: weak Defending: poor
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: weak

The rookie, again, he's no different than the first two guys above him only he's younger, he may be waiver wire fodder

-special note-

Steve Delay
89 000 US$, 18 years, solid form
Has wretched experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: passable
Winger: poor Defending: passable
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor

Delay is better suited at defender(where he starts), but the Aussie plays on the b squad at middie when I train middie. He's close to popping to passable PM, when that happens be may just become a starter at middie...biggest problem, he averages a yellow card a game...not a good thing

Carl Leonard

Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: passable
Winger: passable Defending: poor
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: weak

Leonard may be the highest valued winger, but he only starts on the b team. Hopefully I can get that PM skill up

*Rex Braun
58 000 US$, 19 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities [Unpredictable]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: solid Defending: wretched
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: inadequate

The Canadian has the winger skill to start right now, but may be surpassed by others better secondary skills.

*Odd Torp
58 000 US$, 18 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Technical]

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: inadequate
Winger: passable Defending: poor
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: wretched

The Norseman is decent, young and durable. Makes me think I should be training wingers

Christian Hansson 1
41 000 US$, 18 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Quick]

Stamina: weak Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate Defending: passable
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: inadequate

A defender who gets playing time at wing. Could be a good defensive winger. Could be a decent winger to mid if that stamina would improve

Heine Arntzen
32 000 US$, 18 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: inadequate
Winger: inadequate Defending: wretched
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: poor

Heine has been relagated to a c team player, he'd be more valued if I trained wing

Has wretched experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Powerful]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: weak
Winger: inadequate Defending: solid
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: passable

Ike is my best defender, he's durable and he's been with the team from the start. He spearheads the defense at central defender

*Luis Gebler
113 000 US$, 19 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: passable
Winger: inadequate Defending: passable
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: disastrous

New acquisition. Gebler is another Australian, who is pretty versatile. I may try to get his PM up. He and Delay would be dangerous for a counterstrike tactic.

*Steve Delay
89 000 US$, 18 years, solid form
Has wretched experience and inadequate leadership abilities

Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: passable
Winger: poor Defending: passable
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor

Delay plays at defense but he's got an attitude problem. Still a very good defender grabbed at a decent price

Christian Hansson 1
41 000 US$, 18 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Quick]

Stamina: weak Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate Defending: passable
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: inadequate

A decent defender, his quick skill could pose a threat though...maybe be better suited on another team

Sidney Levin
32 000 US$, 20 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Powerful]

Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: inadequate
Winger: poor Defending: passable
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretched

Youth pull, he's tough and durable, and plays on the b team, unless injuries force him to the top squad

New acquistion. I believe he's close to excellent. The Mexican will start. I train goalkeeping next week and I intend to stick with it. Cambra may get to formidable by the end of the season if I'm guessing right

Saphou Supriyadi

Quite pleased with Saphou but I felt it was time to grab a solid (high solid) keeper. I expect Saphou to play when needed in friendlies or if god forbid, Cambra goes down with an injury.

"Riddle Me This" Batman

Lineup against Riddle...

I'm trying something new...an atypical 3-5-2

Antonio Cambra (keeper)

Per Hansson (extra mid from wingback right position)
Ike Noe (normal, central defender)
Steve Delay (normal, central defender)
Luis Gebler (defensive, wingback left)

Rex Braun (right winger, offensive)
Lucio Cabras (midfield, defensive)
Guillermo Sala (midfield, offensive)
Odd Torp (left winger, offensive)

Xu Hey-You (forward, right)
Oscar Alvarez (forward, left)

This is the main lineup, it will not change, save injury. Amoudry will replace Hansson when and if he recovers.

I play the Mesa Mehados in a Cup Match Friendly next week...would've liked to have been immortalized in the Fightin' Crawfish dynasty, but I'll live to play another day and shield my kinfolk from Les Cherry.

Waiting for training updates tonight, decided to go with playmaking, hopefully I'll get a few pops.

Training was almost uneventful. Leonard Laaniste went to passable...and we had a few form changes...some good some bad...lineup are now set for Riddle and the friendly against the Mehados...

The board decided that impulse over reason was bad...therefore, the board stated we must continue down the road of training "playmaking" perhaps I'll that Crawfish dude.

Well the Screamin' Eagles were removed from v.56 for cheating. I was one to notice two questionable buys to a team called the Reavers. And they've been replaced with a team called Melloncolly. I'll be keeping an eye on them. Not much else to report...youth pulls tomorrow!

I believe they were, and the Screamin Eagles purchases a player of zero value for 10k, and a player of 10k for an astronomical sum...it was reported. Probably a satelite team for the Reavers.

Greetings, my friends. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember, my friends, future events such as these will affect you in the future.....
* Plan 9 from Outer Space *

Riddle - Ultra Nox 1 - 1

Date: 8/18/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 8332528
Arena: Riddle Arena
Crowd: 27988

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Riddle Arena saw a crowd turnout of 27988. Riddle had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Sorenson - Young, Foster, Matsson - Small, Childs, Wilde, Matthews, Reed - Staples, Katz.

Ultra started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Cambra - Noe, Levin, Gebler - Leonard, Cabras, Delay, Sala, Torp - Hey-You, Alvarez.

Lucio Cabras gave the visitors the lead in the 18:th minute with 0 - 1. The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball call in the penalty area. Alexander Wilde put his head to a well placed ball lifted in from the left and scored the 1 - 1 goal in the 23rd minute. The referee showed Ultras Carl Leonard the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After a fine move down the middle Jason Small nearly gave the home side one up in the 32nd minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 1. Riddle held the ball, with a clear 70 percent possession rate.

Riddle created a good opportunity to score in the games 49:th minute when José Katz`s hooked ball created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Romeo Foster was very close to giving Riddle the lead with an ingenious free kick routine in the 64:th, the ball just grazing the bar. After 68 minutes Riddle´s Fredrick Sorenson contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Riddle´s José Katz got himself booked. Ultra´s Ike Noe left the field after 72 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Gary Grewar. Riddle, bringing the final ball possession rate to 78 percent, dominated the battle.

The most dominating Riddle player was without a doubt Alexander Wilde. Peter Matsson on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Ultra player was Lucio Cabras. However, Gary Grewar made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 1.

I know Riddle's owner will not be pleased, we go into their house and hold them to a one all tie. Wait till you check out the ratings

Once upon a time, not too long ago, we took a day out in Manchester
We all fall down, there's not enough hours in our day
Played a bit of football, fell in to the union, barged our way to the toilet
With the Kung Fu king, there's not enough hours in our day...

Whipping Piccadilly - Gomez

Riddle
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: formidable
Right Side Defence: passable
Central Defence: solid
Left Side Defence: solid
Right Side Attack: solid
Central Attack: passable
Left Side Attack: excellent

Ultra Nox
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: weak
Right Side Defence: excellent
Central Defence: brilliant
Left Side Defence: outstanding
Right Side Attack: solid
Central Attack: passable
Left Side Attack: passable

And this was an away game for us...their midfield dominated and yet my defense held strong enough to keep it dark...plus we lost our solid defender and he was replaced by Grewar (solid form, inadequate defense).

The game is afoot - Young Sherlock Holmes

Series: V.56 (8429)

Country: USA
Level: 5 out of 6

Team Played Goals Points
1. Heavy Metal Superst 4 14 - 1 12
2. Ring of Fire 4 10 - 1 12
3. Ultra Nox 4 8 - 7 7
4. Nationals 4 5 - 5 6
5. Riddle 4 8 - 6 4
6. Mesa Mehados 4 4 - 6 3
7. Raytown Ballers 4 3 - 15 3
8. MellonColly 4 3 - 14 0

Heavy Metal and Ring of Fire are the leaders, and rightly so...I'm playing with smoke and mirrors, Nationals has my number and Riddle will avenge...Mehados would be dangerous but the owner seems content to train defense and therefore 2-3-5 is his position of choice...I fear he'll be cashing in someday to equal out his team, he gets one decent striker and he'll be unstoppable...the Ballers are at least operational...Melloncolly shouldn't be a threat.

You get a shiver in the dark
It's been raining in the park but meantime
South of the river you stop and you hold everything
A band is blowing Dixie double four time
You feel all right when you hear that music ring
You step inside but you don't see too many faces
Coming in out of the rain to hear the jazz go down
Too much competition too many other places
But not too many horns can make that sound
Way on downsouth way on downsouth London town
You check out Guitar George he knows all the chords
Mind he's strictly rhythm he doesn't want to make it cry or sing
And an old guitar is all he can afford
When he gets up under the lights to play his thing
And Harry doesn't mind if he doesn't make the scene
He's got a daytime job he's doing alright
He can play honky tonk just like anything
Saving it up for Friday night
With the Sultans with the Sultans of Swing
And a crowd of young boys they're fooling around in the corner
Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles
They don't give a damn about any trumpet playing band
It ain't what they call rock and roll
And the Sultans played Creole
And then the man he steps right up to the microphone
And says at last just as the time bell rings
'Thank you goodnight now it's time to go home'
and he makes it fast with one more thing
'We are the Sultans of Swing'.
-Dire Straits Sultans of Swing

Ultra Nox - Raytown Ballers 4 - 0

Date: 8/25/2003 at 01:00
MatchID: 8332531
Arena: Ultra Nox Arena
Crowd: 8888

8888 spectators had come to Ultra Nox Arena this cloudy day. Ultra tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. They fielded: Cambra - Noe, Levin, Gebler - Arntzen, Cabras, Sala, Torp - Grewar, Hey-You, Alvarez.

Raytown started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Hernandez - Negrete, Strickland, Mitchell, López - Crane, Suan-Teck, Dobbs, Gilman - Zavala, Pace.

Ultra took the lead in the 22nd minute of the game by 1 to 0, as Xu Hey-You elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. The home side´s Ike Noe came close to extending the lead in the 27:th minute. His shot came in off the right hand side but Dom Hernandez managed saving with a fingernail. Ultras Odd Torp got himself booked after a foul. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Ultra lead up with 2 - 0. Gary Grewar finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. The structure of the game started to change as Ultra decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. The referee showed Raytowns Ricart López the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A great save by goaltender Dom Hernandez in the 39:th minute kept the visitors in the game as Lucio Cabras struck from the left with a real cannonball. Raytown kept trying to force their way through on the right side. Ricart López got his chance in the 40:th minute, but the home sides left defence held his position and was able to stop the attack. The teams went for a half-time break at 2 - 0. Ultra, bringing the final ball possession rate to 53 percent, dominated the battle.

The Ultra players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization. Ultra appeared unsure on how to play. Óscar Alvarez sailed high, high above the opponents as he headed the 3-0 in after a corner kick after 58 minutes of play. Óscar Alvarez almost managed to score another goal for Ultra, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. A great save by goaltender Dom Hernandez in the 80:th minute kept the visitors in the game as Odd Torp struck from the left with a real cannonball. Ultra put themselves up 4 - 0 when Sidney Levin broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. Ultra seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion about the organization of the team. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Ultra, with an impressive 64 percent possession of the ball.

The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Lucio Cabras. Guillermo Sala on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Raytown player was without a doubt Ricart López. Dominick Mitchell was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 0.

Stop a couple of angels from entering and thus negating all existence. I hate when people need it spelled out for them. -Metatron (Alan Rickman) Dogma

So I'll spell it out...we opened our new stadium this weekend...8888 (half capacity), but the team was still smarting from the Nationals thrashing...after this dominant win and a good game against Heavy Metal, we should be alright...I hope.

Who you were in Fight Club was not who you were in the rest of the world. A guy came to Fight Club for the first time, his ass was a wad of cookie dough. After a few weeks, he was carved out of wood.
---Fight Club

Stars:

3.5-Lucio Cabras (IM)
3-Cambra (GK), Torp (Wing), Noe (CD)
2.5-Grewar (F), Gebler (WB), Hey-You (F), Alvarez (F), Levin (CD)
2- Arntzen (Wing), Sala (IM)

Cabras is surprising, but he's got the highest amount of experience, shame he's got weak leadership.

Series: V.56 (8429)

Country: USA
Level: 5 out of 6

Team Played Goals Points
1. Heavy Metal Superst 5 16 - 1 15
2. Ring of Fire 5 10 - 3 12
3. Ultra Nox 5 12 - 7 10
4. Nationals 5 10 - 5 9
5. Riddle 5 9 - 6 7
6. Mesa Mehados 5 4 - 7 3
7. Raytown Ballers 5 3 - 19 3
8. MellonColly 5 3 - 19 0

Considering that as of last week v.56 was the 2nd most difficult series in div5, I'm happy to say that I'm doing this well. The bad news is that in the next 4 weeks I play Heavy Metal and Ring of Fire, the two top teams...it's going to be a long few weeks

LAST ROUND

Heavy Metal S - Ring of Fire 2 - 0
Ultra Nox - Raytown Balle 4 - 0
Mesa Mehados - Riddle 0 - 1
Nationals - MellonColly 5 - 0

Amazing, all shutouts. Heavy Metal played a hard fought battle. Riddle upped the Mehados (curses), and Nationals made MellonColly sad.

NEXT ROUND

Ring of Fire - MellonColly
Heavy Metal Supersta - Ultra Nox
Raytown Ballers - Mesa Mehados
Riddle - Nationals

RoF should have no problems. The Nox play the top series team. The Mehados start against an easy opponent. And here's hoping Riddle top the Nationals (grrrrr).

Top Scorers

The Ultra Nox don't have a player in the top ten.
