NCAA scrapping college football tradition

With all the talk of football tradition in the Bowl Cartel Series thread I thought I would toss this out. I purchased a college football preview magazine the other night and it had an article in it on how the NCAA "randomly" decided to toss out the record books this year.

Apparently in years past the NCAA has never counted bowl games or championship games toward a player's or team's season statistics. However starting this year (or maybe it was last year) they arbitrarily decided to do so making all future record comparisons completely meaningless. To top it off, they are not even going backwards to "fix" the stats for years past. They will stand as-is.

Gone are the days when Bowl Games were simply a reward for a successful season.

Great, now we get to hear about X number more "NFL caliber" RBs every year, based simply on the fact that they rushed for 2,000 yards because they got an extra game of stats added to their totals.

Obviously this is old news, as this annoucement came months ago. I honestly don't see why the NCAA felt obligated to make the move in the first place. If they're going this direction, they should at the very least retroactively count bowl stats.
