Hawks get a PG, making room for their many SG/SF.
T-Wolves add Spree, he'll probably play 2/3 (Wally will play the other?) and Garnett will become a 4. Hudson will start at PG, with Kandi in the paint. Not bad, not bad. Knicks get Van Horn, who will play the same position as Spree did, only contribute less. Robinson in Philly, a second scorer (better than Van Horn was) to compliment Iverson. Everyone but the Knicks improved IMNSHO. |

The Twolves get a big time scorer for someone who hasn't played in 2 years. That is huge for them!

dola plus Spree can play some D-which is needed. Hopefully there will be enough shots for wally, KG, Spree and Hudson.

Atlanta wouldn't be getting a PG out of the deal, Brandon is going to retire so it just gives them a lot of salary cap relief, somewhere around 10 million.

As a Hawks fan, I can say without a doubt that if something happens and Brandon never plays a minute, Atlanta still got the best out of this deal. Getting Robinson out of town is just the thing to turn the franchise around. I wonder how Iverson's going to like "Big Dog" chucking up shot after shot after shot after shot.

All right, this is the final nail in Layden's coffin. Why are you picking up Van Horn? He is totallly useless player. If GLenn Robinson is floating around, how do you end up with Van Horn?
Are the Knicks trying to get a better lottery position for next year? |

Getting Maciej Lampe in the 2nd round bought Layden a few more years... The only winner here is Atlanta. They clear mega-cap room and get rid of cancer du-jour Glen Robinson. Who wins in a ball-hogging backcourt free-for all between Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell and Wallyworld? Not the Wolves. |

You guys have forgotten about Casell, or do you think he won't start?

I like the deal for the Timberwolves. With Cassell and Wally, the Wolves need someone athletic enough to defend the 2s and 3s in the league and before Spre came to NY he was known for his defense. If he can become a defensive force for the Timberwolves then I think they can do some real damage in the upcoming season (I'm presuming Olowakandi doesn't turn into Ike Austin.)
I love this trade for the Knicks. Mostly because I'm a Bulls fan. I've watch Keith Van Horn for his entire career (I'm a Nets fan on the side) and I can honestly say I've never been so frustrated by a player. He's a wuss. Simple as that. He gets scared when he's around the basket. He's basically a 6'10'' 3 pt shooter with max contract. With the Knicks luck in getting Lampje, I'm glad to see they take two steps back with Keith Van Horn. Especially when it cost them their best player.

Wally doesn't play D, so the Wolves best lineup would be Hudson-Cassell-Sprewell-Garnett-Olowokandi

I forgot about Cassell, but I actually like having the problem of too many shooters here. This is the first time ever, most of the time we rely on Anthony Peeler or someone like that. Now we have 2 guys who can create their own shots of the dribble, Spree and Cassell, a spot up shooter, Wally, a stud, KG, a rebounder(hopefully) Kandi, and a spark off the bench, Hudson. Now if they can all work together and all understand that KG is the God that runs their universe is another thing, but I enjoy actually having some talent with KG to see what can happen.

Dallas sure seems to do ok with having "too many shooters".

Dallas actually cant seem to make it out of the western conference. Same goes for Sacramento, another team loaded with shooters. You notice the teams winning championships are the ones with a couple good shooters (Spurs: duncan, parker Lakers: kobe, shaq Bulls: MJ pippin) and a bunch of role player (bowen, ginobli, fox, horry, kerr, rodman). Only one guy can have the ball at once but 5 guys can play D and rebound at the same time. Plus Spre has serious character issues. |

Spree may have personal problems, but on the court he's alwasy been a guy who will go out and win. Without him how far would the Knicks have gotten the year they went from #8 seed to NBA finals ('98 I think)?

Bottom line for the knicks is, Spree is a better player than Van Horn. They're a worse team today.

from a sixers fan van horn may start the game at 6' 10" but gets shorter as the game goes on in the fourth quater he will turn the ball over before he shots 90% of the time
