Sadly, yet another prayer request

I made the move from Oklahoma to Colorado a little over 2 years ago to be able to spend more time with my grandfather. This was the best decision I've ever made in my life. I do not regret a second of it.

I had a feeling when I moved that he'd only have a couple of years left. Sadly, it looks like that feeling is coming true. He was hospitalized yesterday with what they thought was pneumonia. It wasn't. He has 2 major blood clots, one of which is in his lungs. We found out today that he has a tumor in his chest as well. His heart is close to giving out from the strain of the two conditions.

Best case scenario now is that they are able to remove the blood clots safely so he can go into surgery for the tumor. Being optimistic, his odds of leaving the hospital are slim at best.

If a miracle comes, I'll be happy to take it. My biggest hope at this point is that he moves on without pain. It would crush me to see him in the hospital battling hundreds of ailments until his death.

It's funny how you can prepare for something for so long and yet be so very unprepared. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hard times Troy...but keep the faith, anything can happen. I went through a stretch last fall when my grandfather had a heart attack, angioplasty, stroke, and a second heart attack within a week and a half (during my finals, no less), but he's pulled through almost flawlessly. He has nearly recovered all his ability to read, speaks 100% normally again, and is out playing Tennis and Golf weekly.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours through this difficult time, my friend.

Sorry to hear this, Troy. My father went through much of the same kind of thing (conditions heaped upon conditions) before he passed away last year. Even though we knew it was only a matter time before it all caught up with him, it was still surprising how fast it all went down when it finally did.

I always pray for life so I'm going to hold out hope your grandfather makes it through this with flying colors. Without that, though, yes, a quick and painless end would be for the best, I think.

Either way, I hope you and your family will be okay.

Chief Rum

So very true. It is something we all have to face too many times in our lives - hang in there as best you can, and make the most of the time.

You are in my thoughts and prayers, Troy.
