FOFC World Cup Development

It looks like a FOFCer will become the next national team trainer, and we could probably keep him there as long as we'd like, and I was wondering how commited everyone else here was to making the USA national team a potential world cup winner.

As has been stated here recently, the US has a smaller user base meaning fewer youth pulls, meaning fewer quality youth pulls. This means that it is more important that the quality players that do come out of the US system are properly trained to benefit the US team. This most likely means it is in our best interest to keep them on US teams. I look at the transfer wire and the top bid for a 17 year old solid playmaker/scorer is that of a Svergie team. He will most likely train him into a quality player for his team, though he will likely change nothing if Team USA has different needs for him than his team (assuming he makes it that is).

Now, I know it will take a few seasons for most of us to get to this level, but how committed would hattrickers at FOFC be towards bettering the national team, even if it takes sacrifices for your team (say a few years down the line there arises a situation where you would have to chose between being able to advance to Major League or making your player more world cup ready).

All that said, I'm very curious how many of you would be more interested in training world cup players at the potential risk of the quality of your team (while obviously not running your team into the ground for a national player, but like the aforementioned ML type situation), and also, would FOFC be able to come together to form a bunch of teams with the goal of training world cup player?

I'm obviosly far from being able to help on any level (I still need to get out of debt) but I will be more than willing to sacrifice for the World Cup team once I have a few mil in the bank.

Granted, it would be the rarest of events to even be put in that situation, but in all honesty... I wouldn't make any sacrifices for the National team.

I enjoy seing Team USA do well, but if we don't, it really doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the game. The World Cup/National play to me is just a sub-game of the larger game of Hattrick, one I pay attention to passingly but have no real interest in. To hinder my team for what in essence becomes Nationalistic bragging rights (Which in most cases just annoys me.. Even from those in the USA.) just isn't something in my game plan.

While I respect those who do take a more active part in the "National" side of the game, its just not for me.

Eh, I think with slashers running again it might be a bit closer. Also, even if I do win it will only be one term. I don't like the whole going for reelection thing. There are too many good coaches in the US for one to be national coach for so long.

Also, with my youth pull I will be training two players that would be national team calibur, but probably never will be since it is the wrong season for U20. Without getting the experience from the U20 team I doubt they will make full nats.

Also, I don't think training good trainees would be a detriment yo your success. Maybe the only time it could hurt is in the cup when they aren't quite that good yet (that's why I've never gone deep into the cup). However if you do get a week 1 solid he should be brilliant by the age of 19.

So training a couple very skilled youths could only help your team in my opinion.

I have a possible back up USA U20 defender on my team... I'd love to train him to divine, but since TP is the MC, I can't. Mainly because he's too lucky as is.
