Post OT-Phoenix hotels

Hey guys,

The girlfriend and I will be going to Phoenix just before Labor Day. Can anybody recommend a nice clean, safe hotel with a nice outdoor pool?

Thanks for helping this pasty Midwesterner. . .

What's the price range you are looking at spending, and also what part of Phoenix? The place is huge, with tons of hotels. I've stayed in Phoenix quite a few times, but usually in the north central part of town.

Newer Motel 6's or Super 8's are usually clean, safe and have nice pools.

Hehehehe.

I know nothing about Phoenix hotels. In fact when it comes to hotels, I'm almost always content with the chains (Hampton Inn being my favorite in the tourist class range, because of the free cont. breakfast; Marriott in the upper class range, especially the swanky concierge level).

Actually, I saw this pretty cool Phoenix hotel on Travel Channel awhile back and it had massive pools, plus a waterpark attached. Looked sweet.

Thanks Cartman,

Is this area near the airport, or other historical sites or muesums? I guess we are going to the Grand Canyon one day, and I would like to go play poker one day. Plus we would like to see some historical stuff. Price is not a big concern, but I would like to keep it less than $80/night.

Other than that, a good pool is a must. (hopefully with a lot of shade, for I am a white midwesterner.

One thing might be to try Priceline. I've always had good luck with them and you can give them an idea in terms of star rating with what you want. I've never had a dump with them. In fact ...

For about your price, I ended up with a swanky concierge level room at the Anaheim Marriott.

Otherwise, you should find a good tourist class (Hampton Inn or so) for under $80. Best bet ... shop around.

Oh and download the software from

www.travelaxe.com

That thing is bad ass. You put in the dates, the city, etc. It gives you comparison rates for all sorts of hotels. Really, really slick. I use this quite a bit, even more than Priceline.

THe Shearton Airport is very nice, less than 10 minutes from Sky Harbor and has a nice outdoor pool. Conveninet to I-10, Tempe and other attractions. Stayed there myself before I moved out here.

Enjoy the Canyon, and let us know how this goes. I'm still discovering the metro area and state myself.

Edit: I should note that I pricelined the Airport area and got the Shearton for $50/night.

try hotwire..... as of late i've gotten real lucky off there.... I ended up paying $56 for a 4 star hotel (that would of been about a $100) this weekend for the Warped Tour in Michigan.... The only set-back is that they don't tell you where you're staying until after the purchase, but it all works out in the end....

Just how big do you think Phoenix is? There's literally thousands of hotels here.

What area of the Valley do you want to be/need to be in, and what are you looking for in the way of amenities, prices, etc.

Sorry, my girlfriend has the face of a wildebeast, and a body of a moose. She also wets the bed.

She is 24 though. . . as long as you like younger women, maybe you could look past her physical defects.

younger women?...ill excuse you due to your new status...for future reference shorty and i are the youngins of this board. Were both 16, and in a constant battle against our more "elderly" members. But ill still take 24...im assuming if you say shes ugly than shes pretty hot. And like wussgawd said, there are a million hotels(most are really nice as they are all seen as resorts). Where are you looking at staying?
