noob value questions

ok I was looking throught the transfer list and found that the assesses values on the short list and the player page was different. Is there an explination for this? and by discrepency I mean like close to 20k. Is this a common occurance?
is it a good deal? does it matter?

I have found that if a player was put on the list before his team's training update, that the value on the short list was never updated following the training update, even though the player's deadling might be after the update and anybody clicking to see the player's page get his real (new) value. The value on the player page is the right one. If it's higher, then you get a player that increased in value since he was put on the market.
