Follow the exploits of:

Pre Fight Assessment - Burt Sugar

Pancho O'Kelly has an extremely difficult fight coming up.

Diego Corrales (7-2-0) (5/1) - Corrales is part of the Mexican Mafia boxing group. He has won 7 fights, 5 by KO. He's an active fighter that is extremely fit. He routinely scores around 100 points a round and has scored as high as 182 points. Usually he starts slow, scoring only 70 points and builds to the 150+ point level. In addition Corrales has never been knocked out. In fact, he's never been knocked down. He has one KO loss on his record, but that was actually a DQ for dirty fighting. It will be interesting to see how O'Kelly attacks Diego.

-------------Predictions---------------

Sugar, "O'Kelly can box, but I don't know if he can beat Corrales on the cards, he can punch, but I'm not sure anyone in this weight class can knock Corrales out. I don't think Corrales is going to lose this one. I think he'll win big on the cards because O'Kelly will go for the KO and come up short."

Foreman "If anybody can get Corrales on the mat, Pach can. He's one of the strongest balanced fighters in the weight class. However, I think Corrales wins."

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Lampley "Joe a totally different approach this time against Fat Chance, what was the reason behind that?"

Joe, "Um. we lost last time."

Lampley "You lost this time as well."

Joe, "I'm aware of that."

Lampley, "Did you realize....."

Joe interupting, "Anybody else got a question."

Foreman, "I liked the strategy Joe. Did you think you had him in the 11th."

Joe, "I did. Man we were within 1 second, and then when he went down the second time I figured he wasn't going to get up. I have to give him credit though. He took a beating and got off the mat to KO Beans."

Sugar, "What happend to Beans that allowed Chance, in his dazed state to get the KO?"

Joe, "We got a little gready. I think he smelled blood, dropped his hands and got caught. Bean's was already tired in the 11th, so he didn't have a bunch left in the tank."

Stiener, "How is Beans feeling right about now."

Joe, looks at his watch, does some quick calculations in his head "If I'm right, he isn't feeling anything right about now. That is if Mac brought the post fight...um...(mumbing to himself Joe says...how do I put this)...medication."

Post Fight Interview - Joe Bagadonuts

Sugar, " Corrales is an extremely tough opponent. In fact, he is capable of doing just about anything in the ring. Do you see any weakness in his game."

Joe, "Not really, the guy can score on the cards and he can pound the body and take your wind..which is what he did tonight."

Sugar, "Did you expect him to work the body?"

Joe,"No way. I figured for sure he would work outside and jab us. He really caught us by suprise with that strategy."

Foreman,"Corrales was throwing big punches but he never got Panch down."

Joe,"No he didn't. I think that comes from a few factors. First, Pancho is tough, second Corrales isn't a KO artist so he just wears out opponents when he throws big punches, and third, when he had the fight won and he knew we were tired he took a few rounds off."

Foreman, "If you fight him again what strategy will you use?"

Joe, "I honestly don't know. He has 2 losses, but both of those were to pure dancers, who stayed away from Corrales and outpointed him. Panch can jab with the best of them, but he's more boxer than dancer. We could try working the body again, and if Corrales goes back to his typical outside style we might...and I stress might be able to knock him out. He's so well conditioned I'm not sure we can, but we might try. We'll just have to see."

Tardar13 14-11-0 (1/6) vs Jimmy "Hurricane" Saunders 6-1-0 (3/0)

Pre Fight Assessment - Charlie Stiener

"This fight is interesting because Saunders had alot of options open to him. Tardar is a nice fighter, capable of outpointing an opponent, but KOs are not really a liklyhood. In 25 fights, Tartar has only managed 1 KO, and that was against a 5 - 13 figher who was KOed 13 times. However, Tartar seems to have found a combination that works. He has won his last 3 decissions by putting together rounds between 65 and 85 points. These are huge numbers, but they can be affective. Tartar also has pretty good conditioning, especially against dancers who don't work the body and take his wind."

"I'm not sure what Hurricane will do here. He can outpoint Tartar, but that requires him to beat Tartar at his strength. He can also work the body, wear him out and get the KO late."

-------------Predictions------------

Stiener, "I think Hurricane wins regardless of which style he chooses. If he tries to out point him he wins 117 to 114. If he goes for the KO, he gets it in the 11th.

Foreman, "I hope he goes for the KO. I like seeing guys flat on their backs like a pancake. Speaking of pancakes have I mentioned I have this perfect pancake maker...it's called the..."

Atlas, "Never discount a fighter that has won 3 in a row. And 3 pretty easy wins at that. Tartar will be tough. I think Hurricane wins, but I doubt it is a walkover."

Brian "The Butcher" Babson3-0-0 (0/0) vs D. E. KeeP 3-0-0 (3/0).

Pre Fight Assessment - George Foreman

"D.E. has to be licking his chops here. He has 3 KO wins, 2 in the 3rd, 1 in the 6th. This guy is tough, and he has to be looking a Babson's film and getting the feeling that he won't have to worry about getting hurt tonight."

"Babson is a classic dancer. He's been working on his strength, but really that is still a weak point in his game. If D.E. feels he can't be hurt...look for him to come out and throw huge punches and have very little defense."

-------------Predictions----------------

Foreman, "I expect D.E. to go for the early KO here. I wouldn't be suprised to see power punches in the teens for the first 3 or 4 rounds, assuming it goes that long. D.E. gets the 4th round KO."

Kellerman, "Babson doesn't go more than 3."

Sugar Ray, "I think Babson can stay away from his power, dance and do just enough work to outpoint him. I'll take Babson in a decission."

Is the Pancho-Corrales fight in the other thread? Or am I just daft?

What's with Hurricane and numbered fighters lately? Anyways, I'd like to go after him. Hurricane can put up big numbers in a round but rather than risk outpointing him, let's just take the fight to him.

Yikes Breeze, this guy looks like a bad matchup considering the strength deficit. I'll probably have to work on the chin at some point too or else get KO'ed by one of these big punching types. I didn't expect a problem in the last fight, but it got a bit hairy and I would imagine future opponents (including this one) will probably try to lay a major lickin' on me. Let me know how sparring looks if you get a chance.

Jag,

Training has actually been quit good so far. I don't know exactly what your opponent's stats are or what he is going to try a do, but I've lowered your activity level and uped your Defense and it seems to be working. We'll see if it works for real tomorrow.

SI,

We can go for points or KO. As you can read from the assessment, I think we can win both ways, but I think (stress think) KO is easier to achieve. Which would you perfer.

Glad to hear it Breeze. Out of curiosity, what style are you using in the fight? I'm a little nervous because I thought in the last fight if the guy had tossed in an allout round towards the end, Butcher might've been sunk. Since I imagine our opponent would probably get smoked on the cards, what do you think about counterpunching with a lead, try to dish out some damage to keep him from wearing Butcher out? Is it not practical? Or sitting on a big lead? I guess I'm just more worried than you are. Then again, if you think you've got him pretty well pegged and aren't having trouble...ah well.

Jag,

I'm pretty worried, but I used a sparring partner with 20 str and 2 KO. He knocked you down in the 12 (everytime actually), but you always get up around 6 finish the fight and win all but the 12 on the cards. I could be off. he could be even stronger than that, but I would be suprised.

I have changed your fighting style to a 6/3/11 (outside) and I'm attacking the body to wear him out some. You won't get him tired, but it may be enough to keep him from doing as much damage. I did a few rounds with a ring style, and you got stunned quite a few times. Probably best to stay away. I'll run a few counterpunch and see what happens though.

Jag,

Counter has worked quit well. You tend to get KOs whenever the opponent goes with an allout round. You get tagged a lot more and stunned, but it's working well. However, that is against a very aggressive 4/10/6.

If your opponent goes with a more conservative 4/8/8 it gets hairy. You win if I train chin, lose if I trian anything else. Of course that also assumes I have the stats for the opponent correct and the fight plan in the ball park.

You want to go with the counterpunching style?

Tough call here. Based on our previous fight plans, he might try to be more aggressive thinking he'll have to to win. We tried staying away from that last guy and he still tagged us a bit. I like the fact that it throws a bit of a curveball from Butcher's previous fights, but it might be too much risk if the numbers are that close. I guess if he's not hurting us enough with the outside plan, we should just stick with that.

Jag,

You came up with counter, and it's working pretty good, so I'm going to go with it. Like you said, he won't expect a counter tactic and I think he's going to come out throwing bombs. Plus, it will prevent other fighters from throwing caution to the wind and coming in with defenses low (assuming we don't kiss the canvas in the first couple of rounds.)

Les "their" Cherries 5-2-0 (4/1). vs Calvin Favaron 9-7-0 (5/5)

Pre-Fight Assessment - Teddy Atlas

"Calvin is an interesting fighter. He can't seem to put consistant performances together. He wins one by decission, loses one by KO, wins by KO, loses by decission. This strange mix makes him difficult to game plan against. However, his lack of conditioning makes him very beatable."

"Cherries will probably uses his superior strength and work the body early and take the head late in this one."

--------------Predictions------------------

Atlas "Cherries will be patient, get Calvin worn out and beat his head in late. Cherries with a 10th round KO."

Sugar, "If Cherries face is healed, he'll distroy Calvin. If he has any after affects or concerns over getting hit, he'll get beat on cards."

Jace Hunter 5-2-0 (5/1) vs 6 Finger Jones 7-4-0 (4/3)

PreFight Assessment - Larry Merchant

"Hunter could have a problem in this one. Not that Jones is a tough figher that could beat him down, but because his style is one that Hunter struggles with. Jones likes to fight from the outside and dance around the ring. He has some power, but he's much more likely to score 100 points in a round...most by jabs. This is a problem for the slow footed Hunter, who tends to tire quickly when he has to chase down a fighter like Jones."

------------Predictions------------

"I think Hunter is the much better fighters here, but I also think he'll get worn out in the 5th trying to track down Jones. Then Jones will do 1 of 2 things...take the fight to Hunter and KO him in the 8th or 9th...or do just enough to win each round."

I didn't know I could KO anyone. I think I have 2 points in it. That said, if you think KO is easier, then perhaps we should go for that. I just don't want to be dancing this fight- I want to take it to him.

Good thinking on detering future fighters. Of course that will only work if Butcher doesn't get his ass kicked. It's all good though, should be a fun fight! And yes, considering the fight plan, training chin seems right.

Jimmy "Hurricane" Saunders is jumping rope preparing for his fight with Tartar13.

"OK kid, get a good sweat going, we've got to be ready for this one." urges Joe.

....A few minutes later everything goes black....

A weak voice in the other room says, "Oh great, I've been knocked out again."

"Mac," says Joe.

"Joe? You've been knocked out too?"

"No Mac, the lights just went out. Brian...please make sure Mac doesn't hit his head on something in the dark. I'd hate to see him end up in ICU again."

"Joe you sure I'm not unconcious. This sure seems familier."

...after serveral minutes trying to convence Assistant trainer Mac Aroni he wasn't Knocked out an MSG official enters the locker room with a flashlight and says, "Sorry about this gentlemen, but it isn't our fault. Power is out all around the area. We're not sure what's happening or when the power will be back on, so we're going to call it a night and we'll try the fight tomorrow."

Joe just nods.

Mac excitedly exclaims, "Joe you were right the lights were out. Your so smart."

Joe sighs.

Tough loss for Panch. I guess it goes to show that Pancho has a way to go still before being a contender.

"Blade" 5-3-0 (5/3) vs Three Card" Monte Monroe 13-49-0 (11/47)

Pre Fight Assessment - Max Kellerman

"Monte is the type of fighter that Blade distroys. He tires early and goes down late. This guy is coming off of 6 straight KO losses. This will be a typical Blade fight."

-------------Predictions-------------

Kellerman, "Blade will not have to change a thing in strategy and he'll still get no later than a 10th round KO."

Stiener, "Blade with a 3rd round KO."

Foreman, "Blade will be patient...Monte goes down in the 8th."

PreFight Assessment - George Foreman

"This is my type of fight. Two big punchers. I think O'Kelly will fair better in this one than he did in the last one, and that should make this exciting."

Bertogarce,

I was really caught of guard by Corrales' tactic. I'm suprised he decided to punch with us. Like I said...had he worked from the outside, which is his usual MO, we probably get him. I was outsmarted on that one. Because we will be going against some good programers in future fights, I probably need to come up with some new strategies for Pacho.

Post Fight Commentary - Max Kellerman

"This was brutal. I mean brutal. It was kind of like watching Raging Bull, when Lamata was fighting Sugar Ray Robinson. Saunders just kept pounding on Tartar and Tartar kept haning in there. I think the ref made the right decission stopping the fight It was obvious that he wasn't going to win on the cards at that point and it was also obvious that he didn't have anything left to hurt Saunders with."

Post Fight Interview with Joe Bagadonuts

Burt Sugar, "Babson hurt Keep in every round of this fight, even though he is considered a cupcake puncher. What happened?"

Joe, "A couple of factors went into that. First, Butcher has worked real hard with weights, in fact, I found him doing curls in his sleep earlier this week...(mumbling)...pretty disturbing to see someone doing curls and snoring at the same time. (back to talking) Also I think Keep got a little cocky. I don't think he felt we could hurt him so he left his arms down."

Merchant, "This was a different strategy for Babson. Why the change?"

Joe, "Got to give the credit to Babson on that one. He told me he would like to try counterpunching, and it was working in sparring so we went with it."

Post Fight Commentary - Larry Merchant

"As I said before the fight...this is an opponent that Hunter will struggle with. Hunter with his slow feet doesn't have the stamina to chase these more nimble fighters around. Combine that with the fact Jones can punch and it's a bad combination for Hunter. To be competitive I think Hunter, and Joe Joe for that matter, is going to have to get better with their footwork."

Hurricane's Post Fight Press Conference
Hurricane comes in carrying a cage with a chicken in it. Various members of the media have that "not this again" look on their face. He sets down the cage and takes his seat, Joe by his side.

"Joe- I loved that fight plan tonight. I got to get out and smash some heads. When you told me to go out and crush him in the middle rounds, I was thrilled. Looks kinda like the plan Joe Joe had but he got too tired.

Hurricane gestures to the chicken. "Ladies and guys out there, since I've been getting so many clones lately, I've decided to get myself a clone. Meet Colonel Chicken. He's like that Dolly the Sheep- a cloned chicken and he's my biggest fan. And do you know why? He gets to live for as long as I keep winning. So, uh, make sure to include the Colonel in your next news story about me."

Bobby "Baked" Beans 4-4-0 (4/1) vs Will Mitchell 2-2-0 (0/0)

Pre Fight Assessment - Larry Merchant

"Here is another situation where Beans is forced to fight an opponent that can't do much damage, but is also difficult to hurt. Mitchell has never been Knocked out and he's never knocked anyone out. He puts up good, not great numbers on the cards. Of his two loses, one came when he was outpointed in a match up of outside fighters...the other he lost on the cards, because he was continulally stunned or knocked down."

"It will be interesting to see if Beans goes low defense and big punches and tries to win by stunning on being the first to knock Mitchell out or if he tries to out point him."
