Who plays Golf here at FOFC ?

Just wondering how many of you are golfers.
This has become a real passion for me since I begun playing 2-3 years ago.

After two competitions my Index is currently at 41 but I hope to be around 35 by next week since I will almost certainly participate at my club's championship on sunday.

What about you guys ?
do you play ? what is your ranking (Index) ?

I play fairly frequently, although not as often as I'd like. Right now, I get out a couple of times a month.

My USGA handicap index is a 16.6 right now. I'm not sure if this is based on the same scale yours is.

Isn't it right next to the tennis courts and about a mile past the go-kart track?

I play three times per week in season. My RCGA index is currently at 12.4. Club Championship this coming weekend also. I played some great courses in New Brunswick last week while on vacation.

If by "play" you mean shoot about a 110 every year or so, then I do.

I'm starting to play, I bought my first set of clubs a couple of months ago. I then went out and shot a 156 on a rain soaked marsh of a course. I played 9 a few weeks ago at a dryer venue, stopped trying to kill the ball, and shot a 55. So there's hope.

I'm a shanker, and damn proud of it.

The USGA hasn't got an index for how bad I am. I still have fun, but only get to go 2-3 times a year.

I play off an on. When I'm on, I shoot about 90. When I'm off, well...that century mark starts to beat up on me.

I try to, used to shoot mid 90s, but after taking 3 years off I shoot 110-115 now.

But I really don't call what I play golf right now, more of a take a hack, hope the ball actually gets in the air, then hope it goes somewhat straight. In the end, I'd spend less time in the sand if went to the beach.

I play at least twice a week from April through November, and average about 40 - 45 strokes per 9.

Love it, it sucks!, love it, it sucks!

I play as often as time will allow me. Just finished Wed. night golf league, when from a 16 handicap, to a 12... not bad.

I play between 6 - 10 rounds a year and have a handicap of 8. I never understand how guys can get out and play 50-60 times a year here. I mean white ball + snow = nightmare.

I play but no courses here in Ankara. Must wait until I am back in the States to play again. Although there were some nice cources down on the Med I played on.

Shoot around 100 but with a little less rust could easily get that down to 90. The 80's aren't happening until I learn to putt.....

I've played 8 times this year ... all for my golf league. It's hard to be consistent when you play 9 holes once every two weeks. I don't have a USGA handicap, but I usually shoot around a 42 or 43 for 9 holes.

I used to play all the time, but I'm broke now. I suck, too...a good day is when I finish in double digits

But it's a blast.

Looks like you need to fix an out-to-in swing path. That's the cause of a slice. Concentrate on keeping you right elbow from "flying', and keep it closer to your chest. Also, try to start you hip turn a little later, and allow you hands to drop naturally at the top of your backswing.

One good trick to help teach you what a correct swingpath feels like, is to set up your stance as you normally do, but then pull your right leg about one foot back from where it would regularly be. This will straighten out the swing, and tone down the dreaded out-to-in swingpath.

Funny thing, I don't have a slice... at least not with my irons. That shot in the photo was straight as an arrow. Either I shanked it a bit, or my aim was waaaaay off.

Thanks for the tip though.
