I really needed a central defender. The two guys I have that I've been switching around both put up 2 stars at their best. I found this guy who hasn't been playing (which I figure is why his form sucks). I'm guessing he'll put up 2 or 2 1/2 stars as-is and once I get his form up he could put up 3 to 3 1/2 stars. I paid $116K. It would have been nice if his winger skill were higher, but not critical since I have a couple solid wingbacks, what I was missing was a central defender. Did I overpay or get a good deal?

You filled a need but I don't think he'll exceed 3 starts. He's a decent offensive CD if you play that way.

I'd been looking for a while for a solid defender with some secondary skills of at least inadequate. This was about the 10th guy I had bid on. All the others went for more than $130K which was my spending limit. Guess I'll find out how he does in about a month when I get his form back up.

The Unpredictable specialty and lack of experience was a concern, but I figured I'd take a chance. Wouldn't be the first time I've overpaid for someone, but so far I've gotten lucky in being able to off-load anything I make a mistake on without a loss.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

In passable form, he should get you 3 stars. At 28 I would have hoped for some experience. You filled a big need, and you certainly did not overpay. Solid defenders have recently been difficult to find under 100K (and there are very few excellents on the market). The unpredictable specialty shouldn't be too much of a concern. It will get you as many goals as it allows. If you are in a division where you are outclassed it will probably help you more than hurt you. Supporter see a big difference losing 1-5 vs 0-5 but not much between 0-5 and 0-6.

poor form really hurts. He may only put up 1.5-2* like this.

I'm going to play him in my friendly next week and see how he does. I'm hoping I can get his form up to passable in a few weeks. If he can put up 2 stars right away, I'll start using him in my league matches. Otherwise, I'll use him in friendlies until his form improves.

At least he's honest, so you know if he gives 1.5 stars, it's his best effort.

his scoring and set peices give you an extra long shot opportunity. the price wasnt bad but he's a bit old and with someone that old you should try to get some experience too
