Help! FOF question

Here's the situation:

My starting qb is hurt and out for 5 weeks, so i need to change the depth chart. My starter isn't listed in any of the drop down boxes. I put my backup in the 1 slot, and my 3rd stringer in the 2nd and 3rd slots. But then the game doesn't let me save and exit b/c i have the same qb in 2 slots.

So then I leave the starter slot blank (it did this automatically when my starter got hurt), and leave my backup in the 2 and my 3rd stinger in the 3. Well, the game doesn't like that either b/c there is an empty slot.

Sidenote: I can obviously get into my backfield depth chart, but I can't exit it under any scenario b/c of the above problems. I suppose I could in theory just start another game and adjust my depth charts during the game, but I'd prefer not to, and it seems there should be a fix to this...

What's a brutha to do?
Thanks in advance.

You must have three active and (at least somewhat) healthy QBs on your roster. What you need to do is sign a new QB.

Make sure you make the injured QB inactive because even though he is injured, he is still on your active roster.

Re: Help! FOF question

If it's FOF4 you're playing, you can hit the "cancel" button to exit the depth chart screen when problems like this arise.

Like others have said, you should make your injured QB inactive, sign a free agent QB, then go back to your depth charts.

If you have 53 active players when you sign your new QB, you'll have to get rid of someone to make room for the next QB, or put someone on Injured Reserve to get them off the active roster.

Good luck!

There seems to be a bug in the software over this. If the scout fill roster box is checked, any free agent QB that you sign gets axed by the coach( if the coach fill depth chart is checked).

The only work around is to uncheck both Coach fills depth chart and scout signs FA boxes.
Then you can manually sign a third stringer and bring him on the depth chart.

Also if you have a 4th stringer on the inactive list the AI will promote him to the active roster.

If you leave the coach and scout boxes checked, the game will allow you to play with two active qB's. Once I had the situation where a FS was listed as 3rd QB by AI.

Has anyone else had the same experiences as me with injured QB's?

I don't think that's a bug, I think that's the way it works. If you have coach fills depth chart and scout signs FA boxes checked, they will control your roster and make changes before each game (such as signing and releasing your QBs).

I haven't seen the situation you mention about a FS being listed as the 3rd QB, but I don't play with those boxes checked since I like to control the roster and depth chart. I do remember some problems before FOF4 was patched with roster depth charts. Have you installed the latest patch?

That sure would be something....

I started a new career over the weekend (I will actually attempt a dynasty), explicitly only selecting players who were Sagittarius/Leo/Virgo (experimenting with chemistry). Well, I was stupid and had the scout making changes setting on, and he cut 3 guys right after the draft (one return specialist ). He replaced them with three guys who each immediately became position leaders . So I had to undo the changes (of course I couldn't re-sign my cut draftees) and then bitch-slapped my scout, who remarkably is average across the board (I can't recall, but I think he was average in EVERY single category).

Further to Injured QB Issue

The bug is the fact that with the boxes checked the following three things happen which should not:

1) If the Coach is controling the depth chart then you can play with 2 qb's. You cannot do this at any other position.

2) If the scout box is checked and the Coach box is not checked thje scout will cut the QB you manually signed.

3) if both boxes are checked then the manually signed QB is still deleted from the roster.

I do not think thats the way it should work as league rules mandate you carry 3 qb's into each game. At other positions this just does not happen. You have an empty roster slot you have to fill it before you play.

I will get a screen capture next time it happens. I think it is the same as the punting HB, which I also had in one career as did someone else.

The FS didn't show up in the depth chart but is listed in the pulldown depth chart in the play calling window. I used him on a couple of running plays for the H--- of it.

The scout controls who's on the roster when that option is selected. It doesn't matter if the QB was signed manually or not. The coaching box only controls the depth chart.

As far as only 2 QB's, I'm not sure if that was a problem with the pre-patch game or not but there were depth chart problems. Do you have the latest patch?

I don't know then. You should send an email to Jim. I've never heard of this being a problem and it's never happened to me, maybe he can help you figure out what the problem is.
