Transfer Rules
2003-08-25 Transfer rules
It has come to our attention that we need to remind all users to read the rules about transfers closely. ALL transfers must be within the normal price range for a player of that age & skill. Cool names, nationalites, hairstyles etc. of players do NOT justify inflated prices. Users failing to comply with this will be dealt with accordingly by the GMs. Inflated prices do not only affect the teams directly involved, but also the teams who have to play the beneficiary of the deal will suffer. From the rulebook Fair Play on the Transfer Market Good players and money are key aspects in Hattrick, which makes it very important that no teams benefit from abnormal activities on the transfer market. This means that all bids should be in relevance to what could be considered reasonable for the player in question. Remember, it´s not only prohibited to have several teams but also to "help" friends or family by buying players at inflated prices. The Gamemasters are fully authorized to adjust abnormal prices, deal out fines to teams or even banning the users. What does this really mean? Has there been an influx of abnormal pricing lately? I mean what's wrong with overpricing a player if someone will bid on them, if you have a 17 year old stud, the price would be infinately higher than some scrub with all wretched skills. By reading the rules one should be able to surmise what is a good deal and what isn't, or at least who is a viable player and who isn't. |

Don't cheat. This might reflect the absurd prices players are going for in some of the new countries. Last edited by Masked : 08-25-2003 at 06:10 PM. |

Looking at the global conference, a Swedish team tried to sell a player named "Marco van Basten" for $1M, which was way above his market value. Apparently that name means something (?) |

There was also a recent message on the Hattrick AP thingy about teams who try to buy guys specifically for their cool names, and that these players (with interesting names) tend to sell for far above market price.
I don't think that should be punished, but I do agree that it could lead to bad things (easier to cheat by masking it with a 'Well he's got a cool name!' argument).

It is strange that Hattrick considers it "illegal" to pay as much for a player as you want to pay. I see its point, but there is a difference between paying a lot for a player because his name is Asswhipe Supertramp and paying a lot for a player because you want to give an unfair advantage to the selling team. One is you playing the game the way you want to play it (i.e. having fun) and one is giving an unfair advantage to another player.
Sometimes things other than ability factor into the price that one pays for a player. Would Real Madrid have paid as much for a player with the exact same skills as Beckam but none of the fame? |

I can see the point. Everyone who tries to cheat (and there seems to be a lot of them), would start saying the name means something to them to justify the inflated price. The guy could be named Joe Blow and I could claim that my brother's name is Joe Blow! That's why I gave $1 Million for the inadequate keeper. Better to just not allow it at all than to open up that can of worms IMO.

But what if you see God on the transfer market?
