I got a winger that puts up 3 to 3 1/2 stars (depending on form) that I'd sell for $1 million.

Edit: He's only 20 too. And in solid form right now (put up 3 1/2 stars in his last match).

Wingers are you best bet. A single 3.5-4 star middie or forward will basically take up all of your $1 million. Believe me, I've been bargain hunting myself for about a month and haven't been able to come up with anything

I disagree with that. An excellent middie should be had for between 350-500k, they can put up 3.5-4 stars. An excellent striker should be had for between 350-500k. I got one today for 371k. I expect him to put up between 3.5 -4 stars when he is in top form. I havn't checked wingers yet.

NAIWF,

what skills are you looking for in your searches?

My guy doesn't look like he'd put up big stars based on his skills, but he consistently puts up 3 or 3 1/2 stars every game.

Edit: I think the reason my guy outperforms his skills is because he's very close to popping to excellent in winger. His secondaries aren't that great, so that's my only guess.

I don't generally consider someone's star rating to be accurate unless they can get it in inadequate/passable form. The assumption that someone MAY be able to put up X stars in excellent form may never be reached if the guy has low base form.

For example, one of my defenders once put up 4.5 stars in excellent form and the rain (powerful specialty), he hasn't broken 3.5 since then. Some people would call him a 4.5* player, I wouldn't.

I only have one excellent PM and he hasn't put up 3.5* yet, so I assumed you'd need a formidable PM to get 4*, formidable middies go for at least 700K. Same thing with strikers. I haven't seen a single excellent forward on the market routinely get 4*, so I assumed he'd have to be formidable, and again be closer to a million than 350K.

That's my theory, which you of course may not agree with.

PS. Stars are really pointless though since I put up 35* in my last game and got a 68 NSI. There was a D5 team that put up a 78 with the same amount of stars. Personally, I'd rather have the NSI than stars.

I have a solid PM middie who's been putting up 3.5* consistently this season. And considering his assessed value, I don't imagine he's a high solid.

Just as an aside, none of my starters has better than weak experience, so that could account for as much as 1* difference.

One would also need to look at the secondary skill too, as a player with good secondaries will put up more stars, but not necessarily help the NSI.

GE's passasbl/passable may put up more stars and add to the offensive chances, but his midfield boost won't be as much as my high solid/wretched middie.

I don't really agree with this. A solid passer in the midfield, when played offensively will help not only his stars ratings, but your central attack as well. As proof, I played my newly acquired inadequate playmaker, solid passer on offensive yesterday night, with the same two forwards that a week ago pulled a passable central attack. Yesterday, I pulled an excellent central attack. Maybe the forwards have a tiny bit better form than a week ago (I'm not 100% sure about that) so maybe half a level could be explained byt the forwards thenselves, but I'm pretty sure the rest comes from the solid passer...

There, it always depends how are the other guys around that passable/passable player. Unless you really only look for midfield advantage, that wretched skill (passing for instance) will kill you at some point...
