NASCAR is not a sport. Neither is golf for that matter. Baseball, for the most part, is painfully dull. I like soccer. It's entertaining and fun to watch (heading to Manchester in a few weeks to catch the Man U-Arsenal match and already have tickets and hotel reservations for European Championships next year), though I'll never have a real passion for it.
Give me hockey. Give me football. Those are real sports. For people who don't like hockey, I only feel pity for you. I really, really do.

Back in the days of sideline green, you joined my list of anti-soccer fof.com'ers. In general, it's amzing to see how much the fofc crowd has changed. 3 years ago, when Marc V started his journey to convert anti-soccer people into soccer fans, I would not have expected to see so many people leave the bandwagon that easy. |

hockey doesn't make a great tv sport, live its great
Football is the ultimate tv sport baseball can be entertaining but i haven't watched all the phillies games since 93 soccer depending on the competition is my favorite there should be a poll what would you watch(if your team is elminated) stanely cup game 7 world cup final super bowl world series game 7 nba finals game 7 i would hate to miss any of them but i would watch world cup and tape the superbowl and start making phone calls to find other people to tape the other games |

This would be an interesting poll, more so if you assume that your favorite team in each sport is participating. In that order, at present I would go: 1. Super Bowl. If the Lions are ever in the Super Bowl there are few things in the world that would stop me from watching it. 2. Stanley Cup Finals, Game 7. This would have been #1 back in 1997 before the Wings won three. Wings are still the most beloved, but I've seen them win three times (once in person) already. So they take a back seat to the Lions. 3. World Cup Final. It would be an historic event if the US even made it. 4. World series Game 7. It's exciting. '84 was a blast. After the decade the Tigers have had it would be amazing too. 5. NBA finals, Game 7. Seen the Pistons win it twice back in '89 and '90. It would be fun. But definitely the last on my list. You could add two: National Championship game in college football (reckon it'd be either above or below the Stanley Cup finals). NCAA college basketball finals (definitely be last). If my favorite team wasn't in it? 1. Stanley Cup Finals, Game 7 2. Super Bowl (College Football National Championship Game) 3. World Cup 4. World Series, Game 7 5. NBA Finals, Game 7 (NCAA College basketball finals) Last edited by Honolulu_Blue : 08-29-2003 at 06:46 AM. |

You can try Marc, you can try! I will actually watch some of the World Cup games, but more from a standpoint of it being a major international competition (and the fact that I like shiny orange uniforms). Got my first 13" TV during the '86 World Cup ![]()

If NASCAR isn't a sport (i don't care either way) then you can't call Baseball a sport. I'm willing to bet that a NASCAR driver exerts himself far more on a Sunday than a Baseball player in an entire year.
Baseball is loitering with an oversized, lump of animal flesh worn on the hand.

I was hoping this would turn into another one of those long "what is considered a sport?" arguments. We haven't had a good one in a while.
Golf is definitely a sport. |

Personally, I like soccer, the fans are great, they are almost as fanatic as I am about the Niners. I like watching soccer, but I don't understand some of the stuff that goes on, like when the season actually starts and ends and whats up with all these cups they play in europe. I actually have a favorite team, Celtic, I can't have an English team as my favorite because its in my blood to hate the fancy Brits (I'm Irish).

As a matter of fact, Chelsea have four English players in the national team plus two who'll soon be joining them. Our English contingent at the club is . . . well, the exact same group, actually.

I have on a mission to try and get caught up on world soccer. Having started with SAAP, and moved into CM, in addition to the World Cup, and going to see the local 'A' league team, I am on a major soccer kick. Too bad I don't get Fox Sports World. Too bad the US isn't following me in my desire to get more soccer fix. Where wlse can I go to get it?

You might want to check with some local sports bars; a lot of them open early on Saturdays and Sundays to screen games, usually English and Scottish games. Its actually pretty fun, especially if there is a supporter's club in the area that goes, gives it pretty good atmosphere if their team is playing. |

No matter how much I try (or don't) I can't find it in any molecule in my body to like soccer. I tried the demo of CM and, while it may be the greatest sports sim around, it took me all of 5 minutes to realise that I will never understand or like soccer.
It could be that I see soccer as a marathon run in a rectangle, or just that I think there aren't enough stats to peruse. Whatever it is, I would prefer to have my daughter date HornsManiac than watch a soccer game. And that is saying something.

![]() With all the transfers at Chelsea going on I missed pace and moreover I forgot to do my reasearch to back up my statement. Then again, the past years Chelsea has become a team leading the tendency of soccer teams consisting mostly of foreign players. Though it must have been a lot of years ago that Chelsea signed 3 English players in one Summer break... |
