Thumbs up This may be the greatest thing ever. (TECMO)

There is a programmer working on a version of Tecmo Super Bowl on which we will be able to eventually experience.... TECMO DYNASTIES? He sounds like he plans to work this into his Tecmo Super Bowl Ultra program, and my god... I would do damn near anything to have a draft and career stat tracking added to tecmo.

It may be a short ways off, but the progress he has achieved is pretty encouraging, and it is something that is happening now.. not something that has been stagnant for weeks on end.

Could this be a dream come true for us, the ones who remember the glory days of video football?

HERE IS A LINK TO A THREAD DISCUSSING THE PROGRAM

I'm going to wet myself if sometime.. ANYTIME in the future I find myself posting a dynasty report that details my Star Tecmo Running Back Bob Anyones career, from when I drafted him to the day he hangs up his cleats..

this could quite seriosly be the best thing ever. Tecmo Super Bowl is (in my opinion) still the greatest football game ever. While completely different, I put TSB and FOF2001 on a pedastel miles above every other game I'ver ever played in my life.

After the original Tecmo Bowl, my friends and I were psyched beyond belief for the sequel. We both got the game the day it came out and haven't put it down since. Many years later, at age 17, my friend and I would play out season after season (with the other always playing as the weekly opponents, except in the playoffs). When there are two skilled players playing, the game is amazing. We kept physical record books, videotaped the Super Bowls for re-watching later, and would bet on the games. We both wrote extensive articles about games, players, etc... and created a complete fictional league in which all events took place. I still remember the heartbreak as my 15-0-1 Eagles choked in the NFC title game, lost to the computer-led Washington Redskins, and failed in my quest to three-peat. I will take that loss with me to my grave.

Be sure and explain the keyboard controls because that is where I am confused.

I have, and I've run a few plays on coach (and watched a couple COM/COM games). One way of configuring the keyboard is using the arrors for the directional pad, and z and x as b/a. I forget what start and select are, but they're configurable (which I would need to do, I need the directional buttons on the left side ).

No league setup as of yet, but you can play games. It's like the guy built his own wrapper around the game mechanism. Very neat.

Damn, I'm playing as the 1993 Cowboys and I'm playing against the 1995 Cowboys. I've run one offensive play (Emmitt sweep to the right) and it went 70 yards for the TD!

Unfortunatly I'm losing 10-7 in the second quarter. That bastard Aikman just threw a touchdown to the fur coat wearing pansy-boy Irvin...

You guys are killing me. You mean you can actually play it, right now?

Can someone post a screen cap that's obviously modern? Something like a SD playbook with Tomlinson's name on the runs? I'd like to send it to friends.

Nope, they posted a link to where you can download it. He initially had only a few beta testers, but once he fixed the major bugs he opened it up to everyone!

Hmmm...at the end of the game it doesn't do the usual stat screen. It goes into a new stat screen. Let's see if this picture came out...

Edit: I was the winning Cowboys team (Go 1993!!!)

Wow .. thats all I can say about this right now.

I just downloaded the game and played a "coach only" mode game. 2004 Eagles VS 1995 Detroit. Interestingly enough , they only ran Sanders 5 times for 40 yards. Mcnabb had a nice game and I ended up winning 23-7 (I had a safety). Ike Reese had 4 sacks! The best part of the game though was the end with the stat printout!!

I can't wait for the final version to be out with the league options.

I see that there is an "online version" with the emulator. Does this mean you can play head to head over the net?

I just downloaded the main file and then the last update. It seems to be working fine, except that I can't seem to get the "select" button to work, so I can't call time outs or kick field goals or punt. Of course, field goals and punts are for pussies...

Where were all you guys about a year ago when me and MrSimperless, among others, made an online Tecmo Bowl league?

Updated rosters have been out for years upon years.

This game does add the season features, which are great, but everybody seems to be talking about single games anyways.

Guess you've just been missing out.

Yeah, I've known about the updated rosters, but I don't remember seeing any stat features for Tecmo Super Bowl. I do remember other versions of the game having it, but not this one.

Can you play ip - ip with this? And if so, anyone up for a game?
