Giant Asteroid

Giant Asteroid may hit in 2014.

Too bad it's not a colossal asteroid, it would generate some discussion on the board.

On impact, it could have the effect of 20 million Hiroshima atomic bombs, a spokesman for the British government's Near Earth Object Information Center told BBC radio.

Sounds colossal to me.

If it gets too close I'll just make a trip in my triangle shaped plane and shoot it into multiple smaller asteroids. Then I'll shoot those asteroids until they disappear.

What bothers me is the chances of this hitting are much better than the chances that I win the lottery.

Yeah, no kidding. The State lottery systems in this country are a total ripoff. You're about 100 times better off spending a buck a week at a slot machine in an indian casino someplace than you are spending it on a lottery ticket.

There is too big of a deal being made out of this asteroid. The belief is after they do a few more tests the odds are going to be virtually nil that it has any chance of impacting earth.

So my luck is I win the lottery the day of the impact.

I didn't laugh out loud, but I still rate this as one of the best posts I've ever read on this board. Call it a child of the 80s/Atari thing.

That was the funniest thing I've read on here in a while.

Has anyone read Lucifer's Hammer?

Great book. Freaked me out when I read it.

BTW, it's about a giant asteroid hitting the earth.

Lucifer's Hammer was a great read!

I have always been partial to doomsday fiction.

I don't know what Mr. Feldman posted with his other 4 posts over the past year, but I'd say that when he posts, he makes them count. That was funny!

A little dated, but it's still on my shelf.

Another dated book, but a helluva good read is "Warday" by Whitley Streiber and James Kunetka. Anybody else read this one?

I tried to read Lucifer's Hammer before. For some reason I just couldn't get into it.
