ESPN and Jaws
I might be alone in this, but I really appreciate Ron J's insights. Personally, I've been an Eagles fan since the 70s, but I couldn't stand Jaws as a player.
However, I think he does a good job analysing plays etc. on his ESPN show. He would be a great person to talk to in regards to creating a football text sim. Anyone know him enough to have him consult on my up-and-coming, as-yet-to-be-announced football sim? |

I was about to call you an anti-semite, but then I realized that I'm retarded.

ESPN and Jaws
I also am a big fan of Jaws. I love the way he breaks down a play. If people who don't understand much about the underlying effects in a football game watched him for an hour they would have a much better understanding of what goes on in a game.

Hear, hear. I have one beef with the show however. Although I got almost nostalgic when Jaws and Merrill were arguing about whether running or passing is more important for the first time this year, I now want them to not have the argument again this season, instead of it being 5 minutes of every show. Actually, I agree with BoneGavel, in fact, for me Jaws' breaking down film is almost the only reason to watch any of the ESPN pregame coverage.

Speaking of ESPN personalities, why don't they just go ahead and fire Mark Malone. They're trying him out on ESPNEWS and college football this year, and he's just awful. He's not cut out for play-by-play, and he knows almost nothing about any other sports besides football (to prove the point, witness his butchering of several MLB player names).
In other words, he's as mediocre a sportscaster as he was a QB.

I'm not sure if it is his enthusiasm mixed with his abilities, but watching him explain a play (for instance, he went through films of Patrick Ramsey) makes me yearn a channel devoted to Jaws talking about secondary coverages and whatnot. It would be great to have this apply to FOF4, though I know it would be too much, but having his knowledge would make it easier to create a 2D match (CM4) in a text sim. |
