Computer shutdown issues....

Ok guys im running Windows XP Home Edition. I could shutdown/restart the computer fine until today.

What I did today was uninstall Sun's Java stuff and install Microsoft's Virtual Machine(5.0.3810). Since then if I click on shutdown or restart nothing happens. If I click on Standby it takes me to the screen to change users and I click restart or shutdown and it works fine.....

Anyone know of a way to fix this? I will go back to Sun's Java if I have too. It just makes Yahoo's fantasy football Javatracker look like crap.

Have you tried Microsoft Windows Update? http://www.windowsupdate.com This site has updates that your PC might need.

Yup tried that. I used it to upgrade VM version 5.0.3805 to version 5.0.3810. Nothing else relevant is available.

Well, if the Sun Java was working fine before Microsoft, then I would go back to that.

You could also get technical support at Windows Update, maybe there is some kind bug in the update, and hopefully they will put a patch out for it.
