TCY specific defense strategy...

...question.

I am in the middle of finishing off another season and I just had a game that absolutely infuriated me.

Last regular season game and if we win (which we should) we probably play in the championship game.

We go against Missouri, which runs the power-I formation.

I played the 50 defense - had nickel defense set to 72 and dime defense set to 56, while setting percentages more for the run on early downs and less so on the later ones or for those with more yardage to go, as anyone would.

OK, so here's the game, and God help me, I realize not long after it starts that we are going to play the run every single down no matter what the situation. So, you basically just have to hope the offense is going to stop themselves by dropping a ball or having a 3rd and 3 instead of a 3rd and 13 so they'll at least run instead of pass.

Amazingly, I do battle back from behind, tie the score at 21 and get the ball back at my own 11 with :54 left. I say, "Don't try to do anything here" as I dread the preordained result that comes to pass, an interception that leads to a 48 yard FG attempt on the final play of the game - which of course sails right through with about 15 yards to spare, no doubt.

OK, so my question: does anyone know how to set-up a defense to play against this offense - so the game isn't just a farce and completely pointless, like the one I just had?

Thank God no one on my regular schedule plays this offense - if so, I'd have to throw the game out!
