Obstruction or not?

For those watching the Boston - Oakland game, who thought it was obstruction and why?

Personally, I didn't think it was because Nomar had a chance of making the play at third if he didn't boot the ball and the 3rd baseman was moving to third with the expectation of a play. Would be interesting, if this play turns the series for Boston.

I personally thought that a case could be made for obstruction on both that play and the Byrnes play.. If both were called , Tejada would not have scored, if neither were called (as was the case) Tejada did not score... So not sure if this is a case where two bad calls luckily evened themselves out for both teams

There was also that first run of the game... where the Red Sox player was awarded home plate??

I think the official ruling on the Tejada play was that the call would have been sorted out after the play ended, so Tejada goofed by stopping in the middle of the play and claiming interference. As I understand it, they didn't not call interference, but they had to call Tejada out for not letting the play go and then arguing for the call.

At least that's what I think Palermo was saying.

And yes, Byrnes should have been called for interference, meaning that the two runners should have been moved back a base. That was such a bonehead, lose-your-cool play by Byrnes, I would have pulled his ass out of the game. That's like when Michael Westbrook cost the Redskins a game years ago by taking his helmet off on the field.

This has been a really strange game. I thought the Sox managed the pinch runner situation in the bottom of the 9th terribly.

Jeez. Once again, we have a game 13 hours after the previous game ended.

Win or go home time for the Sox, Win or Face Pedro who's clutch in Game 5 time for the A's. Roughly the same thing

This has been such a bizarre set of incidents in the divisional playoffs so far. Add in the Frick/Karros play at 1st (if you missed it, Frick was trying to beat out a bunt to the pitcher, and as the throw came to Karros at 1B, Frick raised his hand up and smacked Karros' glove off his hand), and then the weird play with Lofton catching the sinking line drive (it was called a trap), and Giles getting forced out at second while Sheffield passes him. They sure botched that one.

Sheesh!

When I saw the Fick play, I immediately had flashbacks of Cliff Floyd at 1B for the Expos when his wrist was shattered. I don't know what Fick could have been thinking there.
