Enhanced Game
I am loving the new Direct TV feature called enhanced game. They pick two or three popular matchups, and show those games on two channels. One a regular broadcast, the second an "enhanced game". I initially skipped on the enhanced game because a generous portion of the screen real estate is not occupied with football.
For the entire broadcast, the left side of the screen has 5 or 6 game scores that continuosly cycle through all of the games. The bottom 15%-20% of the screen is filled with a set of rotating fantasy appropriate stats. Generally the numbers for the leading rusher, receiver, and QB. The rest of the screen is the normal broadcast. Last week I decided to watch one of the enhanced games, and it has forever changed the way I watch football. One of the problems with DirectTV is that you can watch ALL of the games. I often switch over to a game I am keeping tabs on, to see one team or the other celebrating in the end zone. I switch back to the game I am watching, and see that one of those teams has just scored. As a result I often force myself to stop switching around until about half way through the fourth quarter. This yielded a little bit better results, but while I am watching a critical third and one, I miss a HUGE defensive stand in another game. The best feature of Enhanced Game is the channel listed with each of the game scores. ALso included with the game scores is an indicator of who has the ball, and when a team enters the "red zone" their side of the scoreboard turns red. This is HUGE. They are giving me all the tools I need to watch three or four games at a time. I love the Enhanced Game, and I am never giving up Direct Ticket. |

I'm sorry but I don't like the enhanced channel. At least on my direct TV service there are too many problems with it.
1st the game scores on the left haven't been updated. They are usually a half a quarter behind the time. 2nd: the fantasy stat numbers below often have the wrong teams listed for some players. I don't know if this is happening with others. Just annoyances.

Hmm I haven't noticed the game scores being anything but timely. If a team goes "red zone", I have always been able to flip to the game, and still see them in the "red zone". It is not like I flip over to see a kick off. I have noted the fantasy number issue you mentioned, but hey I know who Fred Taylor plays for so that doesnt bother me so much. For me the real selling point is the red zone and the channel numbers making flipping easy. |
