H.S. Football Team Wins 144 Games Straight
ESPN2 to Nationally Televise Next Game
(Concord, California-AP) - October 24, 2003 — A high school football team in Concord, California puts its record winning streak on the line tonight.
De La Salle High will be playing Evangel Christian Academy of Shreveport, Louisiana, and the game will be broadcast nationally on E-S-P-N-2.

De La Salle has won 144 games in a row. The last time it lost, most of the current team members were first graders.

A senior tackle says the team isn't as worried about continuing the streak as it is about just doing its best -- and he says that means to win.

Winning has become such a tradition at De La Salle that the sell-out crowds usually dwindle down by halftime. Principal Christopher Brady says by then, the team is usually so far ahead, "it becomes a social experience."

Westlake HS in Austin lost a district game on Friday for the first time since 1990. They've really gone downhill.

De La Salle plays so well like a team. An amazing stat is that there are only 2 current NFL players who are alums. Well, last I heard
