The College Years 1.2a

The College Years version 1.2a update is now ready.

Both the downloadable and CD versions have been updated.

Changes made:

- Export dialog changed to include FOF 2004 export choice.

- Minor depth chart algorithm change to allow younger players with more upside to start ahead of older players who might be better now, but don't have as good a future. It's kind of a 2/3 current + 1/3 future calculation now.

This will have no effect on 1.2 careers. You can continue them without changes. The same issue affects 1.1 and earlier careers - new schedules will reflect the new conference alignments added in 1.2, but the teams will remain in their old conferences.

People with the original CD should download the 1.2a update, which comes with a 1.2a patcher.

People with the downloadable version should download the new version (not the update) just as when they purchased the game. Then run the download, which will automatically update the game to 1.2a.

EDIT: THIS PAGE contains the update.

Great news Jim, to be able to keep using 1.2 careeers is really great to export the current drafts to the incoming FOF2k4. All is getting ready for the release, i'm counting each minute

Now we REALLY see the impact QS has had on Jim...

Okay, I won't mention there's another diary entry up right now...

Great to see all the new stuff on the front page, though.

Cool!

I like how you've made TCY a must-have in conjunction with FOF2K4. Considering thefact that the players' stats import with the TCY players and we won't otherwise have that with the FOF players, I can't see a reason NOT to create a side-by-side TCY career to use with the new game.

The whole depth chart AI issue alone should improve TCY's difficulty. Hopefully. I need to bust that game out again

I don't want to assume too much but am I correct in thinking that this 1.2a patch contains all others up to that point?

I'm pretty sure the answer to that is yes, but the site should say for sure.

I seem to remember that there was a utility for making TCY draft files more realistic for import into FOF2, including the endurance issues. Is that right?

If so does anyone have a link to, or a copy of the utility they can send me?

Thanks for the update, Jim.

No offense to the FOF series (they're great), but TCY is my favorite text sim of all time. I look forward to the continuing evolution of TCY in the upcoming years.

and you'll be glad to read (maybe you have, maybe you haven't) that on Jim's TCY FAQ he wrote this:

"Q: Will there be a TCY2? / A: That's likely someday"
