Has anyone played Superpower?

So on my way home from the gym, I stopped off at Best buy.. I immediately went to look for the obligatory gift for the wife so there will be no reprecussions from my spending on myself. Her earlier mention this morning that she wanted the Matrix Revolutions soundtrack was perfect. I spend the $13.00 on it, and then went to look for other things now that I would be off the hook.

I picked up a new sound card... I just needed one.. no reason...

Looking through the games, I decided to pick up the Civ3 conquests expansion pack, to give it a try..

The game I am curious about though is one called superpower. It looks like you control one of 140 different nations and basically play out the world economically, militaristically, etc in a simulation game. For $20.00 I figured it was worth a try. I am installing it now, but am heading out to see the new Matrix movie with a friend later, so probably wont get to play it till later on. Anyone else play this game yet?

Make sure you get the 1.40 patch. The game was pretty much unplayable until this patch.

It is a good game, but does have some gaps. The game logic actually does a fairly decent job of running all of the countries and their seperate goals.

Shouldn't have spent the money on it when the new one is just around the corner - what are the guys at Golem Labs says, Quarter 4, 2005 or something like that .

I picked it up at WalMart not too long ago for $10, but haven't played it. I remember the reviews were horrid at first but after it was patched I heard it was a decent game. A lot of people lost patience though because it took like a year to get it patched to a playable state.

I played it for about 3 hours a whilke back( like a week ago after I had bought it). With the patch it was fun but I gave it up to play Conquests for now.

I remember this game. The most interesting part of the game was the installation routine -- after that it was crap. But this was when it first came out, so maybe they've fixed it.

I have it, but haven't tried it with the 1.40 patch. I might give it another run in the early part of this week (before FOF2K4 comes out). It seemed to have a lot of potential.

I'm with Fritz, this is a crappy game. Even with the latest patch it's impossible to play. If you enjoy moving slders until you wish you were dead and still seeing no enjoyable gameplay this is for you!

The only redeeming factor is the multiple nuke launch graphic. But even that takes forever to set up.

So, it isn't worth firign it back up even with the newest patch then?

Played it, hated it. Nearly bored me to death. Now if there was a multiplayer function...

I played it for a bit, but I got frustrated with it. Moving the sliders seemed to have little-to-no effect, world war errupted at the drop of a hat (and with the brilliant system of capturing a capital means you conquer a country, you'd have a country like Burma taking over the U.S.), and you could make ridiculous trading agreements with no noticable penalty. I played it around patch 1.2 so the newest one probably (hopefully!) adressed some of those issues.

I used to love Balance of Power for the Amiga/Apple and I was hopnig this would be somewhat similar but on a grander scale. Big disappointment.
