FOF2k2 SB MVP Gripe.
This is from FOF2k2, my 2011 superbowl -- While the opposing Denver QB (Tanner) did throw some nice numbers. Going 25 for 33 with 380 yards and 2 TDs I seriously feel Christian Collier got robbed here.
He ran back the game starting kick off for a TD, and he ran back the game ending kickoff for a TD. We were down by 3 after Denver kicked the game leading FG. Leaving us with only 2 seconds left to score, he ran it back 104 yards for the TD to win the SuperBowl for us. He finished with 5 returns for 245 yds 49yd avg and 2 TDs. Makes me feel special teams are seriously over-looked and I wonder if this has been addressed in future versions ? Since we won the SuperBowl I think he had even more right to win MVP, Especially since he won it for us. Box Score: San Francisco 49ers at Denver Broncos. Attendance: 76,000 (76,300), No-Shows: 0. Weather: 33 degrees, fair. 1Q: 14:50 SFO - Christian Collier 92 kickoff return. 1Q: 14:50 SFO - Tom Morton extra point. 1Q: 11:32 DEN - Richard Snyder 7 run. 1Q: 11:32 DEN - Wade Richey extra point. 1Q: 02:01 SFO - Ty Farley 13 run. 1Q: 02:01 SFO - Tom Morton extra point. 2Q: 10:16 SFO - Tom Morton 36 field goal. 2Q: 05:29 DEN - Maurice Edwards 4 pass from Martin Tanner. 2Q: 05:29 DEN - Wade Richey extra point. 2Q: 00:27 DEN - Wade Richey 42 field goal. 4Q: 08:31 DEN - Burt Protokowicz 9 pass from Martin Tanner. 4Q: 08:31 DEN - Wade Richey extra point. 4Q: 03:39 SFO - Henry Wentworth 21 pass from Preston King. 4Q: 03:39 SFO - Tom Morton extra point. 4Q: 00:02 DEN - Wade Richey 32 field goal. 4Q: 00:00 SFO - Christian Collier 104 kickoff return. Game MVP: DEN 7 Martin Tanner San Francisco 14 3 0 13 - 30 Denver 7 10 0 10 - 27 |

im not sure about if the special teams part has been tweaked but i do think that the mvp honors have been tweaked so a player on the winning team wins it more often.

I doubt the team that kicked the field goal would kick to the returner in real life...

Could have been a (really long) squib kick that the up men let through to give their returner a chance to take it the distance, knowing they wouldn't have a chance at doing that.

FOF4 did a really bad job of selecting the player of the game. I learned to ignore it, but it does get annoying when it comes to the superbowl and a player on the losing team with weaker stats wins the award and has it listed on his player card from then on. Supposedly there will be improvement in this area in fof2004.

Anytime a 49er team ends up winning the SuperBowl (real NFL or FOF), makes me feel good

Funny thing is the guy had NEVER ran back a kick for a TD before this in 6 year career. He did run back 4 punts for TDs all in the same season two years ago though (oddly enough our other SuperBowl victory season). He was 87 in PRs and 58 in KRs.
But yeah, hopefully it has been tweaked some. Last edited by Deattribution : 11-11-2003 at 04:44 PM. |
